An unusual attraction with over 100 exhibits that will teach you so much more about the world, WonderWorks Orlando is popular with visitors of all ages. Known as an “amusement park for the mind”, this is a museum dedicated to science, technology and the natural world.
Housed in a quirky building that looks like a beautiful white mansion turned on its head, WonderWorks is full of interactive and educational showpieces. Pass through the gravity-defying inversion tunnel inside and then you can experience what it’s like to be caught in a hurricane-force wind, or sense the ground shake underneath you in a magnitude 5.3 earthquake.
Try out the amazing virtual reality gadgets that allow you to fly a jet fighter simulator or get on board the XD Theater 4-D extreme motion ride. Head for the WonderCoasters exhibit where you can even design your own virtual roller coaster and then go for a spin on it. In the Light and Sound Zone meanwhile you can play with shadows, colours and much more.
Play a thrilling game of Lazer Tag set in a large backlit maze, or if you’d like to take rest with a difference, you can go for a lie down on a real bed of nails! Once you’ve explored everything there is to see and do, check out the Outta Control Dinner Show and enjoy some entertainment that includes comedy, magic and music while you enjoy unlimited food and wine.
There is so much here to take in, so you should set aside at least three to four hours for your visit. It’s a great spot to spend some time, especially if you’re bringing children with you – though be aware that a minimum height restriction applies for some of the exhibits.
Situated on International Drive just over three kilometres away from downtown Orlando, WonderWorks is easy to reach by getting on board the I-Ride Trolley Service which stops at a number of other attractions. Or if you’re coming by car, parking is available at a fee. WonderWorks is open every day, all through the year.
