8/10 Good

"Would be excellent but for the tiny shower cubicle in the bathroom in our suite in which a massive jacuzzi bath had taken up a huge proportion of the otherwise spacious bathroom. The Bidet was very nice addition though. Lack of detachable shower hose in the shower cubicle was very annoying, especially as there was hardly room to move in there. Fixed shampoo and soap dispensers on the wall instead of individual items left out was also disappointing for a hotel of this grade. Otherwise, general areas, the room itself and the very good staff did the hotel credit. These bathroom niggles and the tatty state of the pool and sauna area however prevents this hotel from getting an “excellent” rating from me."

"This eccentric hotel was very clean. The two onsite restaurants were both very good. The concierge staff was successful in getting us a cab to get to our cruise ship on time. The only negatives were: 1) I did not receive a response to an inquiry about cruise shuffles before our arrival and 2) guest services did not tell us that our room was at the top of a steep flight of stairs. We had to return to the front desk for a bellman and did not get our luggage for another 2 hours."

"The staff were very helpful, the only (first world problems) issue we found was the shower - the pressure drops and you get no water and then 2 minutes later it comes back on. Our room was good, reasonably comfy. One of the bar staff was a bit snippy but the bar was very busy. Overall we would stay at This chain again."

"A short overnight stay. Welcome was as expected. Car park was full so we had to pay to park on the road which was annoying. Room was clean and well equipped. Shower did not drain properly so you had to wash quickly! Some aspects of the repairs/maintenance were tired and not what you would expect from a 4* stay - but perhaps standards are lower these days?!"

"Enjoyed our pre-cruise stay at this property. The location is great and the staff was incredible. The fish and chips in the dining room was good also. We only experienced one hiccup-one of our suitcases was missing from the storage area when we went to collect it after breakfast. The staff and manager worked diligently to find it and after 45 minutes of worry, the team found it in a secondary storage area."
