"I had a really pleasant stay at The Ship. The room was compact but spotless and well-organised, with a comfy single bed, en-suite bathroom, TV, and a side cabinet stocked with tea, coffee, and biscuits—such a thoughtful touch. It had been a long time since I’d slept in a single bed, but it was surprisingly comfortable and perfect for a good night’s rest. I’d definitely stay again and would recommend it to other travellers looking for a clean, cosy spot with all the essentials.

"Excellent reception experience. The young lady was so very helpful and caring. I am 75 and she was so patient. The only downside is £1.90 for soda water. Most pubs charge 0 or a nominal amount. This is a hotel and there was the service of the water but the profit margin must be enormous and I admit to feeling exploited. However room was very nice as was WiFi. I would recommend and stay again"

Staff are friendly and welcoming, some I feel are under pressure from senior management,
It feels like they are short staffed.
Which adds pressure to the rest. But they cope with a smile. Be nice to see more staff which would definitely increase the customer experience and enjoyment.
Word of mouth is the biggest compliment to any business.

"I am a regular guest of the Holiday Inn, Abbots Lane, Colchester and have always found the hotel both inviting and comfortable. The staff are excellent and always friendly and helpful. I’ve dined in the restaurant on many occasions and the meals have all been excellent with a wide variety of menu choices. I would highly recommend a stay here! "
"We had an amazing one night stay here. Family Room on the top floor, fantastic view of the sea and great for people watching. Toilet is down the hall, not that clean and fresh feeling. Showers down a floor, fine. Incredibly good value for such an amazing location right in the heart of things. We tried to stay a second night but unfortunately that room was booked and we were offered a room on the first floor but it seemed like it would be really noisy right over the pub. Seems like your experience really relies on getting a good room - and we really did. Can't wait to go back. "
