"The hotel itself is incredible, the staff are helpful and friendly and the room was excellent. A couple of negative comments: I stayed in Room 7 which was a real trek from the reception area including a very tight set of steps at the end. Very difficult with a suitcase. The parking gave great confusion. On the noticeboards in the car park it clearly states that your car registration has to be declared in the hotel and parking paid for. I duly registered my car for the number of nights on the keypad. When I asked about payment, one member of staff told me there was nothing to pay as I was a hotel guest. Another member of staff told me I did need to pay. When I left I again inquired about parking and was told there was nothing to pay and indeed refused to take my money. It was then qualified by the statement 'if you receive a parking fine, contact us and we will void it'. I didn't fill me with confidence that the staff do not appear to know whether or not hotel guests are required to pay for parking or not. It is to be seen whether I receive a fine or not..."

"We stayed in a four poster bedroom in late October 26. The hotel is a fascinating place (in a good way). Steeped in history but extremely well maintained. The bedroom was superb, luxurious and super clean with a very comfortable bed. We had both evening meal and breakfast at the hotel. Both were exceptional and decent value too. The staff were all professional, polite and friendly. Only minor gripe is the parking. The hotel parking itself is small and tight. Plus you will need to be there early to get a space. Public options are a 5 min walk away and not cheap. Other than that we were delighted with our stay and would gladly stay again if in the area."

"Room was a bit draughty, would’ve been nice if the curtains closed fully, room was a bit dusty as well, and breakfast was very busy and had to wait awhile for items to come out. The good things were the room was nice and modern and beds were comfy, reception staff greeted us well, and even the staff on duty during breakfast were happy and helpful even though it was very busy. The location was very good. I would return."
