"Comfortable, friendly and relaxing stay with plenty to do!
My stay at Alaya Tulum was amazing, from the moment I booked my stay I was contacted via WhatsApp by the service desk to confirm transportation to the hotel and to answer any questions I may have. Upon arrival me and my girlfriend got a couple complimentary drinks and even a welcome bottle of sparkling wine in our room.
The property has a nice natural setting and full of palms, trees and climbing vines amongst the rooms. There are little notes around pointing out wild critters that may pass through the grounds at night (raccoons, coati, stripped iguanas and opossums). The beach is kept clear and clean each day and offers a great swimming spot at low tide. Or you can chill on the lounge chairs with coconuts or drinks from the hotel.
The hotel not only offers daily yoga sessions in the mornings but every now and then meditations. The yoga was a pretty great way to stretch out before a snorkel trip. There are also many excursions you can book through the hotel like the biosphere tours, snorkelling, ruins tours and cenote visits or you can rent some bikes and go do some cenote hopping.
The staff were so helpful, friendly and welcoming. Erik and Sofia were always at the front desk to help with questions or to make arrangements. Marcelo always made me and my girlfriend feel at home at Alaya Tulum if we ordered drinks he would happily offer to bring it to our rooms if we wanted and reccomended some great drinks. "
"So peaceful. The room was spacious and elegant. Some might find it a bit dimly lit, but I liked getting away from the bright lights. The property is quiet at night and feels light a sanctuary. Its sister properties encanta - directly across the street, and nest a little ways down the street with some peaceful corners to sit out sleep in a hammock, are both connected to the beach and you can go over any time.
There is a staircase leading into the property, so be aware of you have mobility issues.
The staff was attentive, kind, and very informative. Melissa is particular spent time chatting and helping us choose where to eat and what to do.
Nu is right next door, but I found Hartwood (get the beet!) and Wild so much more delicious.
I'd skip the alcoholic drinks. Nothing spectacular to them.
Spend an afternoon at the Cenote grande swimming and relaxing in a hammock.

"This is a lovely property in a sea of touristy, less serene beachside properties. The staff here is awesome. So helpful and kind. Breakfast is hearty (eggs from the chickens on the property!) toast, juice, fresh fruit, and coffee. The rooms are nice and have a fridge. All of the rooms face the water. We had room 1 that was right on the beach and next to the pool. "
"We really loved La Zebra. The staff were amazing, restaurants very good too. Our room was comfortable, clean and well stocked with a view of the gulf. The pool was a disappointment being located on an upstairs level with few loungers, and sadly we were inundated with sargassum so swimming off the beach was disgusting. "
"My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Casa Malca. While the property may lack some of the amenities of other hotels on Tulum Beach Rd., Casa Malca features artworks from the renowned collector Lio Malca’s personal collection in the hotel and around the grounds, so it’s a must for art enthusiasts. Additionally, the staff are all extraordinary, addressing us by name and attending to every detail of our stay."
"If you're looking for serenity, beauty and excellent service, this is the place to be. A beautiful spot, gorgeous rooms and friendly service. I highly recommend this gem... Umi is a vibe."
"Very disappointing stay
I stayed at Casa Gitano after booking through Expedia. Our room had a serious bug problem with numerous insects inside. The bugs were everywhere on our clothes.
The sink in our room was clogged, and staff had to come fix it. Shortly after, the hot water stopped working, and we were left having to use cold water.
The pool was extremely dirty with sand and debris floating on the surface, and we were told it would take several days to clean, which they should have taken measures for before guests arrived.
The experience was extremely disappointing."
"My stay at Shibari was wonderful! Staff were very professional, attentive & courteous. Check-in process was simple. They were able to check me in early. The room floor seemed like it wasn’t cleaned that well but the room and view was so beautiful it took the focus away from it. The cenote and restaurant area were amazing. Food taste amazing, a bit overpriced, but the taste, service & staff compensated for it. The fitness center can use some attention. "
