My wife and I travelled NZ for seven weeks. Kauri Villas was the best accommodation experience of the entire trip. If you are looking for a little rest and relaxation, beautiful scenery, traditional Kiwi charm combined with luxurious surroundings, then this is the place for you! Enjoy!

Jewel of Whangarei Heads
This is a beautiful gem nestle among the lush bush on top of a little hideaway hill providing a near 360 degree view of the surrounding including the tranquil water in the distance. I have been visiting Whangarei for the good part of the past 40 years and this one tops the list of charm, serenity and top class hospitality from the hosts Andrea and Mike. The breakfast provided by the IT savvy part time chef Mike was just perfect.

On our last night in New Zealand, we decided to stay in Kauri Villas B&B instead of apartments or hotels - and boy, were we blown away! First the suite that we stayed in was spacious - 2 bedrooms and a living area. Also the host was so gracious and friendly, and served us a delicious breakfast cooked to order! More importantly we had a chance to get to know how the locals live. And we got a chance to see some sheep, 2 friendly cats, and chickens! The property is a little far from Whangarei, so account for that if you choose to stay here.

Great view
Only issue was the only place to eat dinner close by was closed So take away fish and chips was the best alternative

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Unfortunately during winter our local tavern doesn't open on Mondays and Tuesdays. There are other restaurants a 15 minute drive from here. It was a pleasure to host you.

Perfect quaint stop
Beautiful setting with wonderful friendly host. Breakfast was delicious. The grounds and view were so perfect. There is a little hike on the property. The sheep are a plus.

Winter business trip
This is a lovely property and I enjoyed the change from staying in standard hotel rooms. A bit more than just your average B&B with friendly service and a very tasty home cooked breakfast. Great views from the dining room over the pool out to Parua Bay. Would love to take the family back in Summer.

Beautiful view in a rural setting
We were made very welcome by our hosts. Lovely property with beautiful views over the Bay. Spacious rooms with everything we needed. Peaceful setting so we could hear the birds and watched the sunset. Just a few minutes drive from the main village.

Thank you for your review. It was our pleasure to host you. Yes it is very dark here as we are away from the city lights, but there are a number of lights in the bathrooms and hallways, which could have been left on if you needed more light.

Terrific place. Peaceful, quiet and with spectacular views of the bay. Lovely grounds and good forest trails right on the property. My traveling partner was sick for a couple days and Pauline and Colleen took care of him like he was family. Close to Whangerai Heads hiking and beaches and the good and friendly Parua Bay Tavern. Now we just need a reason to get back to NZ for another stay!

Highly recommended
A fantastic place to stay, the hosts are very friendly and helpful. A lovely pool although we had little opportunity to sample it due to poor weather. Fantastic views in a great area. We had the smaller of the suites. Although the bedroom was small this was not a problem as there is a second small bedroom where we could put suitcases etc and also a large private lounge. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance although the hosts will serve dinner by arrangement and I think there is a guest kitchen. To use the washer or drier costs 6nzd each per load.

Great B&B with lots of room
Our family stayed in the villas for two nights during our driving tour of NZ. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and can cook a great breakfast. Our private space had two bedrooms, bath, living room, and porch area. There was also public living room, pool, hot tub, and porch. Breakfasts were fantastic and had different options each morning. We would definitely stay here again.

The staff were unusual and the food was average. The decking was broken in places around the pool and the pool gates were left open. There was just a general lack of care about the place.

Sorry that your experience at Kauri Villas was not enjoyable. We pride ourselves on our service and food, as well as our facilities. We are replacing the broken board, and getting the gate looked at, as it should be self closing.

Loads of character and beautiful views.
We stayed here for one night on our way home at the end of our holiday. It was very quiet and relaxing with amazing views from the pool area. There was a lovely bush walk and animals. Awesome breakfast.

It was pretty nice. The only one thing i was inconvenienced is kitchen. I recommend takeaway or order dinner service. Nice pool, good breakfast and lovely cats!

Thank you for your review, glad you enjoyed the pool and breakfast and our very friendly cats. The bed and Breakfast suites do not have their own kitchen but we have a separate small kitchen for those guests who wish to prepare their own food, sorry if it was not what you were expecting.
