Greg and Michael were lovely hosts. We arrived a little earlier than the check in time and Greg made sure we were checked in and settled, that's really great service. They were both friendly and on hand if we had any questions about the property or the local area.

Room was excellent as were the amenities. Access was easy and the cabin (Bamboo Cabin) was very quiet and extremely private. Bath Hpuse was very good as was the shared kitchen - clean, well equiped and round an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended for those wanting something off the beaten track.

John the care taker exceeded our expectations with his hospitality. The place itself is beautiful enormous and worth a wander. We enjoyed johns home made sushi, fresh oranges/mangoes off the tree and macadamian nuts off the bush!

We had to turn off the main road and up a winding narrow track to access our Big Island Retreat. Apprehension turned to pleasant surprise for the four of us when we arrived to our destination. Nice stay, but incredibly expensive. I would love to stay in the area for several days, but not at those prices - much better to stay in Volcano or Punaluu and drive back and forth.
I found the desk clerk to be a bit blunt - she wasn’t rude at all, just not very cheery or welcoming. I also wasn’t impressed by the $15 fee to use their air-conditioning units - absolutely ridiculous to charge an extra fee considering the high accommodation charge for the apartment.
