Seattle is one of America’s most beautiful cities, what with its location right next to the water and its glittering cityscape overlooked by the towering Mount Rainier. To fully appreciate its splendid beauty, however, make sure that you pay a visit to Kerry Park and admire the mesmerising view.
A great spot much loved by photographers who flock from near and far, from here you can admire the sunset at the end of a clear day and see the iconic Space Needle rising up against the sky. Even at nightfall, the park offers a great vantage point from which to see the city and the sky at night.
Look out across Puget Sound and its islands, around which you’ll see charming boats and ferries sailing along the waters. Behind the city in clear skies, you’ll be able to see Mount Rainier towering high, dominating the landscape. Along the railings around the park, you’ll find telescopes which you can activate and use by just dropping in a couple of coins. Through them, you can admire spots all over the city up close.
Kerry Park itself is a great place to while away the hours. You’ll see dog walkers alongside parents pushing their prams across this 4,000 square metre site. Among its amenities are a playground, park benches and a modern sculpture called “Changing Form”.
Situated on Queen Anne Hill, Kerry Park is about 15 minutes by car from Downtown Seattle. It’s a great area to wander around at your leisure, with many stunning old homes in the surrounding streets. Parking, however, is limited, but travelling here is easy by bus or taxi from downtown.
