The surfaces in the kitchen and table were grimy and there were gas splinters in the carpet. I had a splinter in my foot. The front desk did respond unenthusiastically when I reported this accident.

The Ilikai was very centrally located for honolulu, and the valet parking was convenient. This is a very old hotel that could use some updating the pool was slippery and frankly a wee bit dangerous, it could easily be fixed. The room was clean and nice but there were not enough pots and utensils to cook with. My only other complaints were we were unable to move the pool chairs to accommodate the 4 of us, and the front desk lady had an overly large attitude. I don't think we will stay there again it definitely wasn't worth the money.

My first issue is the cleanliness of my room. Dried up urine all on the toilet is absolutely unacceptable. There was hair all over the bed, balcony was full of sand from previous guests, etc etc. One thing worth noting elevators take forever(not that big of a deal to me but worth pointing out) I mean I could go on and on. I really did like the guest service desk. Very kind and helpful, but I absolutely think housekeeping needs to step it up. Until then, I won't be back.

Renovated rooms are nice and seemed very clean, balcony could use some cleaning though. Shower was small but otherwise the bathroom was nice. Kitchen was great to have and bed was comfy. Views are really nice from high up and location is great, plus the price compared to similar hotels is competitive. Would stay again.

Very clean hotel and loved our ocean view, it was wonderful! However, customer service can and should be improved. Upon arriving to the hotel for check in, staff aren’t very welcoming nor do they explain the areas or options nearly the hotel to newly arrived guests. As first time visitors and guests, I expected friendlier and much more courteous service. Some staff look annoyed by guests. Overall, the experience was good, would return to Hawaii again but considering another hotel with more options and better customer service.

This property was such a nice peaceful place to stay compared to the crowds, congestion and noise of the Hilton next door. Our room was clean and comfortable and had an amazing sunset view, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful! Also a small reef was swimmable from the shore. We would absolutely stay here again!

We stayed for 5 days. The property is ok for the price. Unfortunately, 2 elevators were out the entire time we were there and people would try to force to get on any elevator that came. A few times the weight limit was over the limit so, thankfully, the elevator wouldn’t move so people had to get out. As for the room itself, there is no room service and that includes no garbage pick up. I kept food scraps in the fridge to avoid a big problem. The kitchen has all the utensils and pots you will need but not a single spice or cooking oil. The staff is friendly but they are very busy.

As someone who doesn't typically leave reviews, I felt compelled to share my experience at this hotel. During check-in, I encountered one staff member who was unfriendly, which was disappointing. Additionally, when I called the front desk, I was provided with false information about the bedding situation. I advise against choosing the queen sofa bed option, as it proved to be very uncomfortable. Furthermore, the long line-ups for the elevator were frustrating, and the partial ocean view was misleading, especially considering it was nonexistent from the lowest floor. Most shops in the building were closed, limiting convenience, and the laundry facilities were below standard, with dated machines that barely worked. The lack of daily housekeeping was also inconvenient. Overall, my first-time experience at this hotel was underwhelming, and I regret not choosing some nearby alternatives with more vibes.

Nice choice on Waikiki. While not a walk directly onto the beach, it was just a short walk down a ramp and across a saltwater pond boardwalk to get to it. Hilton next door shoots off a fireworks display on Friday nights.

The property was older and at the time we were there the onsite restaurant was closed, pool heater was broken and the elevators stopped working. Overall not the best property condition.

The elevator situation is no joke. During peak times going to your room can take a while. Also during peak times trying to leave your room can take a long time. Wait time ranges from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, if not more. They limit 7 people per elevator so if you are on a lower floor leaving your room can take some time. Overall the hotel is old and is in need of renovations. The rooms are big and the full size fridge is a plus. But the bathroom is small and there is a mildew smell coming from the shower curtains. There is also a lot of outside noise that makes it into the room. We had a room facing Ala Moana street, so all the car/traffic noise was heard in our room on the 23rd floor The hotel has lots of memories for the family but with the current state the hotel we can not justify returning until the issues get resolved

Elevators broke down daily causing long wait times
The room was fabulous as always, but the elevators kept breaking down causing long lines and wait times. Need to get them fixed permanently. This could be a serious thing in the event of an emergency, especially for those requiring assistance staying on the higher floors.
