"The property is definitely dated, but v clean. Needed a place to stay for a local race which required 3 nights accommodation. Price was right, and then I was also informed at check in that bc the pool wasn’t open, I would be receiving an additional discount. Nice!
Staff were wonderful, and provided me a lot of detail about what amenities were on site, AND the restaurant was open until 10pm which was great!
Bed was comfy, loved having a balcony overlooking the little pond in front of the property. Parking and room access was easy, and room was well-equipped with a fridge and toiletries. Also the softest towels I’ve ever experienced at a hotel!
Would love to come back in the summer with my kiddo to explore the area and facilities further.

"Communication with the host was excellent. Room and bath were very clean. The kitchenette was a plus. Quiet at night and easy parking. Easy to walk to stores and restaurants."
Cozy A-Frame chalet on the beautiful Kennisis Lake. Family and Pet Friendly!
10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderfully relaxing stay in this charming A-Frame chalet on Kennisis Lake. The space is clean, cozy, and thoughtfully laid out—especially lovely with the stone fireplace and spacious deck. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the hot tub was a perfect way to unwind.Peter and Codi were prompt and clear in their communication, making check-in simple and hassle-free. The cottage felt private yet accessible—with a dock, a canoe/paddle boat, and even a bunkie adding extra flexibility.Whether lounging inside or exploring the area, we felt at home right away. It’s a wonderful place for friends or family looking to enjoy the Haliburton Highlands. Highly recommended."
"Suki is easy to get in touch with and very helpful. The space has many rooms and lots of beds. It was ideal for our party of 10. The walk to the water may be difficult for older renters. Dock is a beautiful place to sit on a hot summer day. "
"This was a lovely property! The outdoor spaces were delightful, and we enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. The photographs accurately reflected the interior and exterior spaces, and the interior was comfortable and well-laid-out. We especially loved how light-filled the house was, and the walk-out level game and television room was definitely a bonus! The host was responsive, helpful, and easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again!"
"We really enjoyed our stay at Karen’s Cottage with our 9 month old. The location was great — nice and secluded but still close to town. The cottage itself had everything we needed. We did a lot of barbecuing, and the bunkee was a big bonus. We had a visitor with a baby, and the way the bunkee and cottage were set up meant we didn’t disturb each other so it’s great for families! There’s a small play area out front with a swing both babies loved! We brought our cat and she was very comfortable too. The water was very low in the river so swimming wasn’t great, but that’s not their fault - there were beaches close by that they recommended. No air conditioning (pretty standard for a cottage), but fans in each room which saved us during the heatwave. We loved sitting on the deck and listening to the running river. All in all, we loved our stay and plan to return!! "
