Anstruther Lake Getaway locate in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park

10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful time at Anstruther Lake. We stayed for 7 nights. The condo was clean and welcoming and Karen was responsive to our questions. She gave us access to her laundry area to launder the sheets before our new guests arrived. It is a really nice area for families and people who are respectful of the many other people who live in the 25 condos--not a good place for people who intend to party hard, make a lot of noise and stay up all hours. The issues that we had are all fixable or already fixed:...We had extra work to be able to use the paddleboat because it had been hauled up on land by neighbours who had found it out on the lake after it broke free from the dock after it was tied up by previous renters. The reason became clear quickly--the rope was rotted through. We replaced it with line from our sailboat. ...The Keurig stopped working repeatedly and there was no replacement at Home Hardware in Apsley but we lucked out when Angela next door loaned us hers for the duration and Karen was bringing up a new one at the end of our week. ...The can opener didn't work so we improvised. ... Another essential item for us (it turned out) was a toilet plunger; again Angela came to our rescue. ...I would suggest that future renters bring some lawn chairs with them if there are more than 4 people coming. It would also be nice to have some placemats for the table.Overall, Karen's place is a big step up from basic cottage living!"

"We were looking for a remote cottage with a lot of privacy and this was just what we (my daughter, parents and aunts) were looking for. When we arrived, it was even more scenic than we had thought. The property is at the end of one of the private roads and the closest neighbour was a couple of hundred meters away. We had a full kitchen, outdoor BBQ, access to a fridge and freezer and access to the dock (complete with paddleboard and two kayaks). The fishing was great too using the kayaks. There is a nice firepit with lovely view of the stars from the dock afterwards. David was also a very nice person to deal with during the whole process."
