"I had such a relaxing time in Hakone retreat villa, its such a special place. The staff are very attentive and helpful, they even brought a spare charger to our room when we needed it. The private onsen was all we hoped for it would be. The Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast is also worth noting, the ingredients are seasonal and fresh and every dish had been delicious. I'd like to come back every season to enjoy nature like this."

Top Hakone Toy Museum Hotel Reviews

Hakone Pax Yoshino

8/10 Good

"This hotel is clearly old—felt like it was built in the 60s or 70s and hasn’t had a major renovation since. Positives: The staff were all very helpful and polite. Checking in was super easy as was checking out and leaving/collecting our bags with the front desk. The onsen was nice and clean. The breakfast buffet was good with western and eastern variety of foods. Negatives: The hallways and overall building were somewhat dingy. The hotel allows (or used to and still smells of) smoking. Breakfast is from 7am-8:30, so a pretty tight window during vacation. Neutral The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the town/train station."

Tsukino Yado Sara

10/10 Excellent

"Tsukino no Yado Sara is a beautiful property. We selected the option to include meals and it did not disappoint. So many delicious different foods that we likely would not have experienced anywhere else. Additionally, there are many options for the on-site onsen. You can reserve a room with a private tub, but you can also use the private onsen, which is available to anyone staying at the ryokan (property). No reservations required. There’s also the public onsen setup where it’s separated by gender. It’s a larger bath bug are and has indoor and outdoor options."

Hakone Airu

10/10 Excellent

"We had a wonderful stay with a private dining room our own sushi chef for dinner."

Onsen Hostel K's House Hakone

10/10 Excellent

"The place was really beautiful and very relaxing. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Even though you do have to walk to the station, it is close by."

Hotel Kajikaso

10/10 Excellent

"Amazing staff, amenities, and food"

Yumoto Fujiya Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Excellent location near station. Beautifully situated in hill top with views and river. Large hotel with Onsen and restaurant options. Breakfast was good with plenty of food to choose from. Staff was very kind and helpful."

Yaeikan

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed in a room with a private Onsen, and opted to have the meals brought to our room (specifically the wagyu option). Our onsen was so nice, that we decided to not bother with the public and reservable ones. I had three baths in a day! The food was exceptional and whilst very different to the British palette, it was all well explained, presented and of course was delicious. The staff were wonderful and attentive, responding to requests and questions quickly and clearly. I was very pleased to see that Yaiken was busy throughout our stay, and I hope it remains so. One small piece of feedback as picked up by others is that some of the furnishings are a bit tired and perhaps need a spruce up - marks on the walls etc. but genuinely nothing that would stop me going again or recommending to anyone. Thank you!"
