"We stayed at Prominence near the start of spring. During this time, many shops, restaurants, and cafés were either closed for the season, closed early, or had limited seating. Many bar-style eateries were also not very welcoming to families with children. In hindsight, it might have been better to stay in the Happo-One area, as it was the only ski resort still open for the remainder of the spring season. "Nice location and off the beaten path. An easy 15 minute drive to most things we wanted to see; zoo, central Nagano, Nagano station. Easy parking, nice relaxing hot bath on balcony. It was an older Ryoken but maintained and Friendly staff. "

"Hallways smelt poorly, carpets are stained throughout the facility. We got the 4 person japanese room (only 2 in the room) and it was adeqaute for us. Outdoor tub included with room can only hold two people, food included with half board was buffet style and wasn't very good, however had a decent selection of western, japanese and chinese cuisines."
