Great location- walking was easy to everything. Wonderful welcoming and helpful staff and reception. Breakfast was excellent. Large room and bathroom. Super comfortable bed. Couldn’t fault anything. Value for money!

The staff are all caring and at practically every level do their utmost to help their Guests. We were there for a week and only once, at breakfast, were we not offered help in negotiating my husband's stroller. The other members of the staff who were on at that time were quite embarrassed by that situation. It is so pleasant to have breakfast overlooking the canal and the downs. There some very handsime geese to watch at the same time.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in the middle of the North York Moors National Park. The room was very clean, the linen of high quality and the bed was very comfortable. All the amenities worked. The rooms are above the pub so there was some chatter and music. This wasn’t a problem for me. The breakfast was delicious. I would stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Quality stay

Wonderful friendly place, classic small country pub with beautiful gigantic meals. Good variety for breakfast too. Set in a small ex mining village in the heart of the lush Durham rural countryside, midst lots of other similar towns and villages. The staff are most friendly and helpful, as are the locals who frequent the bar. Quite easy to find, and directions to other places, shops etc. will be gladly given by anyone near at hand. This all helped to make my stay there one of the best I can...
