"Clean & Comfortable"
What a wonderful time we had at the Westin San Diego! The room was clean, nicely decorated, and had a comfortable bed. Located near everything we wanted to do....USS Midway Museum, Harbor Cruise, and the Gaslamp District. We came and went by Amtrak from Orange County which was very convenient.

"Great Spot near Downtown"
Stayed here for two nights in early September. The hotel and staff was fantastic. Within walking distance of Gaslamp District for lots of restaurants and nightlife. Room was very much on the small side, but there's too much else going on in San Diego to worry about this. Valet parking is the only option available, so we returned our rental car once we checked in and dropped our bags off to avoid that cost. About a 10 minute cab ride to the San Diego Zoo and 20-30 minutes to Mission Beach (depending on traffic). There is an extra fee you need to pay per night on checkout, this wasn't a surprise for me as I was expecting it, but something to keep in mind when pricing out hotels.

"Fantastic hotel in downtown San Diego"
Loved our time here. We got upgraded to a corner room with King bed and a balcony that overlooks the pool. So comfy! Nice touches like a charging station by the bed made life a lot easier. At first I thought parking at $40 a night was steep, but considering you get in-out privileges at a great downtown location, it's really not that bad. Finding other parking is possible, but you pay per entrance, so it ends up being more expensive if you actually want to use your car more than once a day. We didn't get to take advantage of the free wine in the evening since we had young children, but it sounded great. Most of the key sights (Zoo, beaches, USS Midway, Balboa park) are within 15 min driving, and many are in walking distance (we didn't because of children). The extra tall shower is a bit tricky if you have to wash small children (our 8 month old and 2 year old) but we managed. One thing for us is that since we had small children, we really didn't take advantage too much of the evening activities in downtown, so perhaps a hotel outside of downtown may have been more cost-effective (assuming you can get free/cheaper parking). Still, we had a blast here and worked out for us pretty well.
