For the price I wasn't expecting much to be honest. I was very surprised how clean and comfortable it was for one person. Great location. And very friendly staff. I would absolutely stay here again for the price.
The hotel is in walking distance to fantastic eateries, a couple of blocks from the water and very accessible to major highways and the airport. The night life in Little Italy is very much alive. The cafe's and outdoor bars are also very appealing for a weekend getaway. Highly recommend this hotel for the location and accessibility. As far as room and amenities go, it is above average. Clean and well furnished. Rooms are on the smaller side, but when you want to be outside exploring what the city has to offer, who needs a large room anyway? Another negative is parking (street). I didn't have time to explore the fitness center or other amenities during my short stay. If even I need to be in SD again, I would definitely consider this hotel.

From the first call Anthony was very pleasant over the phone once we got there was a smooth check in with him as well. The hotel was updated and very comfortable...since the weather was unusually HOT...air conditioner was great. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommendatng the 5 days we were there. Jose A. was the valet supervisor and was there on the spot when we needed him and he also remembered who we were and made sure we were taken care of. The hotel was really close to the bay and if we needed a shuttle Alex M was there to take us and pick us up always friendly ....happy to see us and drove us safely each time. Our first day there we asked Robert about the bar and restaurant at the hotel...he let us know where it was located and offer one free drink coupon for each of us and was very friendly. When we got to the Glass Door Bar located at the top of the hotel we meet a charming lady named Jersery and fell in love with her and the beautiful view from atop the hotel...so if you are looking for a convenient place to stay don't miss out on the Porta Vista Hotel...service with a smile!!!!! Porta Vista provides service that huge hotel can't and don't !!!!
I enjoyed my stay. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. It is VERY close to Little Italy so there are plenty of good places to eat within walking distance. Also, very close to Balboa Park and the Zoo.
The room was fine for one person, but might be a little cozy for two.
From beginning to end I had a horrible experience!!! Check-In was at 3pm, our room wasn't ready until 3:30. I spoke with Angela she was very apologetic offered to comp our lunch or dinner and even said she was going to bring us some "goodies" for the inconveniece. WE NEVER GOT ANYTHING COMPED!!!
We came in to our room to greet the housekeeper and a sink full nasty food it was so clogged and smelled disgusting. The maintenance man was supposed to come take care of our sink the next day at a specific time not only did he show up late WE had to stay in the room to greet him! The rest of the trip I tried contacting Angela and she completely ignored me until this day she never responded.
