So I needed just one night to stay in San Diego prior to my seminar at a Mission Beach resort. THIS WAS THE PLACE! My plane came in from Europe--I was beat, hungry, and in a bad mood. I was so glad the Porto Vista shuttle came and got me. The driver was young and personable, and I told him I was craving a Carne Asada. So on the way to the hotel we stopped at Los Panchitos, got some drive-thru, and my evening was fantastic! At the front desk, the ladies obviously worked a long day Sunday, but managed to keep their smiles on as they directed me to my room and places to go on a map. The room was good enough for one night--I was in Little Italy so I didn't care that the fridge didn't work, but they replaced it promptly regardless. Location wise, the action was one block over on India street, but it guaranteed I would have a nice quiet 8 hours of sleep before checkout. That morning, I checked out and they held my bags in storage, allowing me to go places and fix my phone, get a mani/pedi, and buy some food/supplies all before my week-long seminar. Too easy. Definitely recommend the Porto Vista--great value for the money!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel while here in San Diego to attend our Grandson's and Great Nephew's High School Graduation. It was very important to be close to a Catholic Church to attend Mass daily and to be able to walk to the Church. It was a beautiful walk every morning! We enjoyed being able to take the walk daily into Little Italy and stop in all the cute shops and restaurants. My daughter was able to pick us up every day by car as the freeway was so close. The staff was very nice and we liked the fact this is a Family owned hotel. Thank-You!

Very nice hotel. I stayed here before a work conference and found my room to be even nicer than the Marriott that I stayed at after for the conference.

We loved staying here and would stay again if returning to San Diego. The location is excellent (especially considering the price), close to the waterfront and in the heart of Little Italy. Also, on Saturdays, there is a great Farmer's Market nearby (don't miss it!). The close proximity to the airport did not prove to be an issue as far as noise, and was in fact quite nice when going to the airport early in the morning (the taxi ride took less than five minutes, though we were told to plan on 15 just in case traffic got bad). This B&B is a bit atypical, in that it does not have staff available all day (you will find a note on the door, and instructions to go across the street to get your key). Also, it is not the kind of a fancy/luxurious place some B&Bs can be, which may be off-putting for those looking for a luxurious, pampered stay. Rather, this feels more like visiting an aunt or a grandma--older home, reasonably decorated, and reasonably remodeled as needed (but definitely not fully refurbished). Debbie (who cooked the breakfast) was absolutely wonderful. She was full of good information about the area, very accommodating in terms of breakfast menu, and in general just a pleasure to be around. The food was good (again, think visiting a relative, rather than going to a gourmet restaurant) and comforting. Lastly, if available, ask for room #4--it is more spacious (it has a bedroom, a small sitting room, and a bath, plus its own deck).
