"Hapuna Prince is amazing"
We spent 10 days at the Hapuna Prince, and we booked a rental car so that we could do the Volcano thing, go to Kona, sightsee....
We did all those things, and don't get me wrong, they were all great thing things to do, the best was driving to the summit of Mauna Kea and watching the sunset. Don't get caught up in anyone telling you that you are not allowed to go to the summit.
That being said, my wife and I agreed, that next time we come, we will NOT get a rental car and we will save the $1000.
Pretty much anything you want to do comes with its own transportation.
The hotel and the grounds are beautiful. It is a contemporary setting, with lots of concrete, however, it is presented tastefully and shows very well, they just completed a makeover, and that should keep things current for a while to come. The setting itself is amazing? The hotel open air lobby faces south west so there is a beautiful sunset over the pool and ocean every night. The salt wster pool is plenty large, 4ft deep the entire length and was VERY WARM, (93-94) the entire time. The pool overlooks the beach and is very pretty, the common areas are clean and comfortable and great for reading a book for those days after you get too much sun. We always were able to get amazing sunset pics every night, right there at the Beach Bar cafe while listening to local musicians at dinner time.
The rooms are neat and up to date, I did find it curious that there was but only one (1) wall hanging in the entire room.
