"Great value "
Easy to find after 19 hours on plane from New Zealand .. quick walk from station. Room overlooked lovely park. Teeny tiny room but had everything we needed for 3 night stay. Staff lovely. Breakfast great. Quiet, even with our window open. Only fault was wi-fi in room are bit sporadic and lift during peak times too busy. They need to open stairwell to relieve peessure on lift (or service lift) . For the price .. awesome.

Decent hotel, worth the price. Pretty much what you'd expect from a 'business hotel'. Staff doesn't speak much English.

"Nice-sized rooms"
We had requested a non-smoking room, but received a smoking room that had gotten "extra cleaning." It was OK, although there was a slight smoke smell.

"Good Hotel for Tokyo"
It is located on a good neighborhood, near to subway station and some good restaurants. It is the typical Hotel in Tokyo, quite small but good enough for a couple of days. I would recommend to bring your own bed sheets since I found them a little bit stained. Great Staff and service.

"Awesome hotel."
It is set back in a residential area but very quiet. The rooms are small but clothes washing is free with washer/dryer machines. The bathrooms are small and shower tub is even smaller. But the hotel staff is really wonderful and very helpful to attend to all the customer needs.

"Cosy and authentic"
Stayed at the Edo Sakura for 5 nights in one of their Japanese Tatami-style rooms. As expected, the room was small but clean and cosy! I thought I was going to get a backache sleeping on the floor but to my surprised, I didn't. Still, it would be nice if the mattress was twice the thickness. Didn't watch the 20-22inch TV in the room as all the channels was in Japanese but the internet was free and fast. The rest of the hotel facilities are at the ground floor near the lobby/reception counter. There is a nice tea-ceremony room where guests can watch the 30-min demonstration at 10am. The public bath is also on the ground floor and can only fit 2 persons each time. The lift was really fast for a small hotel. I was a bit doubtful when choosing the hotel as it is located in a sub-urban neighbourhood. Thankfully, it's located near a school so it was easy to find it on Google Map. It only took us a day to get used to the train system and the closest one, Iriya Station is just 5 minutes away from the hotel. Eventually, the location of the hotel turned out to be a blessing. After roaming around the busy areas of Tokyo, we came to appreciate the peacefulness when walking back to the hotel. Finally, hotel staff were very helpful and can speak good English. Highly recommended to all except those who prefers staying close to the main shopping districts like Shibuya/Shinjuku which are about 30 minutes ride. Tsukiji, Akihabara, Asakusa and Ginza were convenient to get from the hotel

"Small but convenient"
The hotel was very small and dated but the location was a plus. We really enjoyed the free tea and coffee on the 2nd floor and the breakfast. We would definitely stay there again :)

Pocket Guide: Tokyo Ueno 3 stars Hotels

This area offers a glimpse of what life was like before the economic boom of the 1970s and 1980s. Neighboring Asakusa, it is best known for the Ameya-yokocho Arcade, a busy market with interesting stalls. Ueno-koen, a sprawling park with monuments, zoo, pagodas, and a pond, is a must-do. Museums and galleries abound in the area.
