We stayed with our 8 year old in a bunk bed style bed. Great decision. The bunk bed has individual lighting to our son could sleep on the top while we had some light on our level. The hotel has very small rooms with a tiny capsule style bathrooms. There is no reataurant (or breakfast) in the hotel but there is a Starbucks 5min away next to the train station and plenty of authentic Japanese places to eat lunch or dinner. The room showed some wear and tear visible on carpet but it was clean. Staff was extremely helpful and polite. we did not try the public bath as you have to use it naked.

Everything was excellent except for the size of the rooms which was about three suitcases wide and was difficult to navigate within after putting our suitcases. Since we used it only to sleep at night it suited me. Staff were super helpful and it was very neat and clean.

Wonderful area to stay in for the first time in Tokyo. Room was bigger than expected and clean although very slight smell of cigarette probably through no fault of theirs. Lots of lovely amenities & wonderful proximity to the JR and park & zoo.

Perfectly placed to enjoy the Ueno district. 5min to great food in any direction. And we definitely felt we could have explored further with more time. The rooms are typically Tokyo, but so is the experience.

Near Ueno Park. Near local eateries which cater mainly for adults and those who like to drink beer. Room was quite small for a family for 4. Only has space for 1 person to walk inside the room. Overall average for room but good for those who wants entertainment near your hotel.

The location of this hotel is definitely a A location. It is 3 mins walk from the Ameyoko Shopping District in Ueno. Unlimited food choices, door steps to convenience stores, medical stores, different kinds of shops. Very close to Ueno Park and subway entrances as well. The only inconvenience part is the hot bath is in the Main building of the hotel, so we will need to walk outside in cold weather with our bath robes and passing thru the busy street. There are minor stains in the beddings so I would say the cleaning staffs are not at the excellent level but definitely ok. The front desk staffs are very helpful.

Our stay at the Centurion was great. It had all we needed for a comfortable stay. Very close to Ueno station. Easy to get to anywhere in Tokyo from here.

Gotta admit, when we showed up I was a little nervous as the area looked a little rough. Nothing could be further from the truth. Lots of really cool places around the property, definitely quintessential Tokyo. The rooms, a little small but very clean with a fridge and laundry facilities on the top floor. ( they actually work) Real nice staff and went above and beyond to ensure a real nice stay. The area itself is real nice, close to the park and outstanding museums. The subway stop is about a 2 minute walk and will take you anywhere in the city. Will definitely continue to stay during our subsequent visits. Two thumbs up.

There are two buildings on the property and you may have to go across the street to use the spa in the first building. Slightly inconvenient. The second building also shares space with an arcade below so there is noise through the building but it shuts down after 10pm so it didn’t impact any sleep. Customer service was great. Bed was soft and room was clean and quiet overnight.

Friendly staff, location; walking distance to the Ueno park, skyliner Ueno station, and all other train stations, and a lot of awesome restaurants in the area. Not really impressed with the small room and bathroom. The whole interior of the hotel looks old; such as carpet, elevator and hallway sometimes had unpleasant smell.

Nice stay
It's a standard Japanese budget hotel - small but nice. The only downsides were the people above us (cleaning crew?) made a lot of banging noises on the floor every morning, and the drain in our bathtub/shower was slow to drain so by the time you finished showering the water was a few inches up past your ankles.

Centrally located in Ameyoko shopping street, walking distance to 4 stations, close to all amenitis. It has own onsen which is beneficial for tourist. The hotel fit with its price, staff are helpful . The streets nearby are like a maze, easy to get lost . Setting of room is slightly a bit worn out.

I would recommend that people should look for other hotels in the area. I booked 2 nights at this hotel.The floor of the hotel room was very dirty, and it had a weird and strong smell that i could not breathe. I went down to the receptionist to tell them how dirty the room was, they were not suprised and even spent couple mins to come to check it out. After pretending looking at the screen for a few mins, they told me all room booked and they could move me to another room in the following afternoon. I was very disapointed for their attitude and services. Japan is famous for being polite, neat and cleaniness, but not this hotel. No apology from them. They acted like this was my mistake and I had to accept it. There are better hotels with reasonable price around this area. So go somewhere else if you want to stay in a cleaner hotel in Ueno.

Great location but the annex part of the hotel is in a poor state. Our room stunk of mould and mildew and we had to spray the room several times and put air con on high try to get rid of the smell. My poor son couldn’t stop coughing. If there had been something else available we would have moved. Wasn’t cheap either compared to the 4 star accommodation we had in Kyoto and Osaka.
