We have been regular guests at the Armitage for well over a decade. Our reason is always the same, it's affordable, friendly and we have watched the progressive upgrade to rooms and facilities. The restaurant and bar has become a favourite as well. We would recommend the Armitage if cost is an issue. I do not believe you can do better.

The waitress in the dining room was very helpful and pleasant. The food was very good. The room had an excellent bed (the most important part). however in the bathroom there were no towel rails or hooks to hang towels on which was a bit curious as it wouldn't take much to correct this.

The longest check in process I’ve ever experienced. Payment had to be made at check in despite a credit card provided. Very dark hallways and other guests were very loud despite it being a Sunday/Monday

The staff were the stars of the stay. Super helpful and friendly. Nothing was an issue for the at all. The hotel itself is undergoing some renovations which it definitely needs, some.parts are looking quite dated. The bathroom I has was a prime example of this, where the shower in particular could use an update and it would be great if they could some soundproofingwhile they are at it walkingdown the hall you can hear people talking in their rooms. Major work is happening at the front so the main entrance is closed but the signage to the temporary entrance is confusing and I actually got lost (as did quite a few other people) because the signs look like they are pointing you to a different spot. I managed to find a phone to ring reception, who were very helpful but it would have been nice to have better signage so it could be easily get ne to reception in the first place. The last frustrating thing is that my room was at the very end of the hallway with only one useable entrance/exit all the way at the other end of the hotel which possibly would not have been an issue to me if there hadnt been a lift and doot closer but they were only iseable for the conference guests.
