This property is like visiting one of the "wonders of the world". The engineering that went into the design and construction of this property in trying to make it Earth friendly is amazing. Be ready to step back in time. "Off the Grid" is more than a description; it's a warning. The same concepts that make this property such an endearing...

"We loved the town of Custer and this charming house was right in the heart of it. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops. The location was also a perfect jumping off point for seeing the sites in the Black Hills. We went far and wide and decided our favorite excursion was a day in Custer State Park, where we saw Bison and Prairie Dogs and a host of other wildlife. It was awesome to come home each day to the peaceful little cottage where we ended the evening with a movie and then to bed....

"We had a great stay! The house was perfect for our short get away and the lake view was beautiful. Everything was clean and had all the items needed for our stay. We love golfing so having the course so close by was a big plus. Can’t wait to return for a longer stay!"

"Cute little cottage with the perfect location! Close enough that Main Street Custer is within walking distance, but just enough removed from the main drag that it felt quiet and safe. Playground next door was a big bonus for the kids. House was clean and comfy."

"This was our first trip to the Black Hills, and the Little Elk Cottage was the perfect setting for our trip. The cottage is adorable, very private and within reasonable driving times to the area’s attractions. The cottage was well equipped and well furnished. We had a very relaxing getaway, and would recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the Black Hills area. Herb M."
