"The hotel is a wonderful place to stay. The location is great. The front desk staff is extremely helpful. The rooms are very nice. Now we get to the breakfast. The food for the breakfast is quite good. However, the plastic knives, forks, and spoons are the worst I have ever seen. They are flimsy beyond belief. It is almost impossible to cut anything with the plastic knife. The plastic forks bend to a 90° angle when you try to put them into something. Both the kitchen staff and the front deck staff are aware of this problem. They don’t believe they can do anything about it. After our first breakfast, we brought plastic wear from a restaurant that we had eaten lunch in. During the breakfast after our first night stay, my wife and I discussed the idea that it might be better to pick up the food with our hands and simply bite it. We didn’t do this, but it was tempting."

"This is a small independent hotel, so we didn’t expect fancy amenities. There is no elevator, which was fine for us but should be noted if you have physical limitations. The woman who greeted us was very friendly and had good suggestions for restaurants and attractions. This is a very touristy area with no grocery stores and only 1 gas station, but it is very close to Mt Rushmore and beautiful outdoor places."

"Visiting Mt. Rushmore with no prior planning was challenging. Having never glamped, staying here was a delightful western experience. The staff was very helpful, the accommodations were exactly as described, the bed very comfortable. It was an enjoyable sleep. The dining was very affordable and quite delicious. Overall it was one of the highlights of our five day trip to the Black Hills and Badlands. Without doubt, we would stay at an Under Canvas facility again."
