"Everything was amazing! Hosts are very hostile and friendly. I had a half marathon run in the day of our checkout and host kindly let us stay longer for me to move back from Regua and have a shower and lunch! Really loved it! And the House is really cozy and comfortable, lot of fancy plates, ceramics and nice details. Breakfast isn't quite big, but delicious - huge variety of home made jams, fresh bread and cheese. Ymmy! "

"I've posted elsewhere that we stayed at wonderful hotels in Portugal. The "stories" were about reaching them and trying to park at them. The Douro Castelo experience was our worst! We used GPS to find the hotel. Made the mistake of making the last turn! The hotel was only feet from the last intersection. [A red "carpet" reached from the door to the intersection, but we missed it.] We drove past the entrance on a gradually narrowing street. Narrowing more! Pulled in mirrors. Scraped the car on a house [with only inches of clearance on the driver's side.] Ultimately both cars returned to the lower center of Lamego and parked in lots. We transferred to the hotel by Uber. We enjoyed our stay--once we got there. But arriving was a trauma--and an expensive one at that."

"We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the 8th floor and was more a suite than a room. It comprised a king size bed, large couch, table for two and a bathroom. This room also had the added benefit of a private terrace/garden with river views. Quality of fitout was of a high standard and also included were robes and slippers. Additional facilities included in the room rate were three pools (and outdoor horizon pool, an indoor swimming pool and an indoor spa), sauna, steam room and a tennis court. In terms of dining there is a pool bar, another bar and a restaurant as well as room service. We ate at all four areas and the food was consistently good as was the service. We also had breakfast each day in the restaurant which had a good range of food and drink. The staff were exceptional and friendly and made our stay enjoyable. Overall an amazing stay. "
