Great views
Had a 17 night stay with the family. House was great (lots of stairs-as stated) and once you have driven down the steep driveway once, it doesn’t seem so daunting! Lovely ensuite off the main bedroom and views to die for! Kitchen well stocked with appliances, a few staples in the cupboard to use. Some dishwashing and clothes washing products provided which was great. Owners very quick to reply to questions. Found the main bed a little hard, could do with a mattress topper for comfort but overall the whole house was fantastic.

Great location but property needs some attention
We knew this property was a little quirky going in and chose it because it is a great location with lovely views. However we were so disappointed with the total lack of maintenance on the property and it is a very old building. The grounds itself were so overgrown with weeds it was difficult to get down to the public walkway at the back (which incidentally was a great shortcut to downtown). The kitchen was an absolute disorganized mess with items shoved haphazardly everywhere and impossible to find anything. The ancient stovetop and kitchen counters are well overdue for replacing and something as simple as a sharp knife would have been immensely helpful. The cleanliness level was very lacking - windows could not be opened for fear of letting in all the bugs and cobwebs that covered everything. Beds were OK - had better and had worse and one bathroom was nicely updated while the second needs work. So much potential, just spend a little time and money on maintenance and cleaning products!

The View
We stayed for the view and 2 bathrooms. Yes, it needs updating, but that was clear before booking. The beds are comfortable. The hot water was great. The stove and fridge work. I personally did not think the driveway was bad, but you need good brakes. It was everything the property owner said it would be. They even stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. I thought that was nice. I’m sure this could be a beautiful place, but then the price would go up. We enjoyed our time here and I would stay here again.

Enjoys the views and serenity..
what a great place to stay at. Yes the driveway is a bit funk( but that is clearly stated on the listing) but it had everything we wanted for our family stay. Plenty of firewood, clean, plenty of kitchen utensils, comfy and lots of space. The bedrooms were good size and comfy, but the views were fantastic. You were close to town but far enough away to relax in the peace and quiet.

As stated the home is built into a hill so the driveway is quite steep and there are about 40 steps down to the home with three landings along the way and motion lighting for at night. There is a path from the back of the home that takes you lakeside to town and it’s an easy walk. The home is older, as stated, and has character but it has been sadly neglected. In its prime, with the incredible view it has, I’m sure it was a great home. In its current state, while the view is still incredible, the home is not. When I contacted the owners about a window that couldn’t be closed and five yellow jacket bees got in the home, they told me the house was going to undergo a big overhaul in May. If a major renovation does happen, especially the flooring, some doors and window treatments, then this should be a decent stay. As it is it was not, which is a shame for such a view property.

The home is clean, comfy beds and welcoming. Great hosts, easy check in and on hand if you need anything. Easy walk by the lake into town or a longer walk the other way to the boatshed Cafe. Perfect for family or group stay.

Funky, slightly older home with excellent views
We enjoyed our stay at this funky retro home. Big spacious lay out overlooking the lake. We used the kayak and the walking path along the river. We got used to driving up and down the steep driveway. The kitchen was older and not very clean. Overall, we had a good time here.

Spectacular find
This was a fantastic place to stay for us. It was a bit removed from the busy centre of Queenstown but also within easy walking distance. The upstairs area provided amazing views over the lake and the bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs were all well appointed. From the backyard we had direct access to the foreshore cycleway. It was unusually hot while we stayed, but we could keep the place cool by opening everything up. Our host provided great instructions to make our stay seamless. Recommend highly!

Million Dollar View
We were a family of three that included an infant. This property was perfect for our needs, the kitchen and laundry certainly and all the comforts of home, made our lives much easier. Coming from Oz, I was worried about the cold. We needn't have worried - every room has heating and there is even underfloor heating in the ensuite and kitchen. I was excited about the novelty of using a fireplace, but the weather was actually too good to get to use it! If you were visiting in winter, you would need not worry about the cold. Yes, it is on a hill and the driveway took some getting used to - but it is worth it for the amazing view and sheltered courtyard.

Fantastic stay

Quirky warm and great view
Lots of facilities, loved having lots of heating, especially the heated floor in the ensuite. Plenty of room for two adults and three kids. Driveway is a bit scary so take care using it if you aren’t a confident driver. Had a good time, would book again for sure.

Stunning View, Great Value
This property is within walking distance to Queenstown centre and right on the Lakefront. It’s very good value in the midst of other crazily priced places. It’s quite quirky in style so don’t expect something super modern but it’s very clean and the view from the balcony is stunning. Great for our teenage kids and family of 6.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The views of Queenstowns lake Wakatipu are beautiful from the balcony leading off of the lounge. A good location if you have a car as it is a short drive to the CBD as well as Frankton.

We loved the beautiful location overlooking the lake and the proximity to queenstown itself. The renovated bathroom with heated floor was a lovely touch as well. Unfortunately the kitchen cupboards needed a good clean out and the kitchen windows were quite dirty. We didn’t mind the steps down to the house or the steep driveway but we had a 4wd. Would definitely recommend this lovely quirky house

Easy walk to town and conference venues, stunning views, and great comfortable indoor-outdoor living. We were warned about the steep driveway and steps - they are an adventure and not for the faint hearted or disabled... but were no problem for us.

Excellent location and a fully equipped stay
A fully supplied rental and a beautiful view. The most difficult portion of the stay was the access to the lodging - a very steep driveway and quick exit off the main road. If there are renters with disabilities of mobility, it might be very difficult to do many steps up/down to the lodging.

Needs TLC
Property is in need of some TLC - peeling paint, old furniture and very cold due to limited curtains. Nice to have a fire, but wood used is from building sites. Don't think this wood should be burned as probably treated timber. Has an amazing view but definitely not a place to stay in winter.

The driveway is atrocious, so steep we were lucky to have leased a 4 WD. Another vehicle (a sedan) had to park up on the road as when the driveway was icy the sedan would not make it. Elderly people would not manage this driveway. From the driveway there are approx 25 steep steps to the front door. Inside the place predominantly unclean and I had to sweep the floor, wipe the benches and sweep the porch for the amount of leaves left at the front door. The couches were covered with two blankets to cover the stains on the couch. On arrival there was NO firewood and luckily Neville arrived and supplied us with scraps from a timber yard that were not suitable for a fireplace. We went over to Wanaka and collected two large bags of firewood to last us the 9 nights. The beds and bedding were comfortable the bathrooms were clean and the linen was ample. The TV was complicated and there were about 3 channels, no movie channels and feel that this could be improved. The heat pumps worked well in the mornings. Overall good money paid for under average accommodation I'm sorry to say.

Nice views BUT extremely dangerous driveway
The property has amazing views and is well appointed. We were in Queenstown for a week as part of a family holiday and this was a great base for exploring. However there were a couple of disappointing aspects of our stay. Firstly, we were not sent any information about accessing the property, making our arrival more problematic than necessary, and the owner did not return our call when we tried to make contact. But the second and more major issue was the driveway into the property. This was so steep and in disrepair that our car (a 4wd) slipped a number of times in good weather, and actually slid sideways and got stuck when there had been minimal rain. Luckily there was no damage to us or the vehicle, but we had a small baby with us and this was quite terrifying. For this reason, we were relieved to be leaving on the final day. Prior warning from the owners about this aspect of the property would have been appreciated.

The view is amazing!
The home was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We were a little bit surprised at all the stairs! The driveway in is steep and then a long climb down to the house, but as we became more familiar with the landscape around Queenstown, we realized that almost every accommodation is on a hillside! We loved that we could walk in to town and the view was amazing!

House with a View!
We really enjoyed our stay at Lakes Edge. The house is quite large and has all the amenities you'd need. The interior is somewhat dated, but everything was clean and functional. The best feature is the large deck with stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The place is about a 15 min walk from downtown Queenstown via the main road. You can also take the trail that goes along the lake. It makes for a longer, but beautiful walk. The only caveat with this place is the super steep driveway with a tight turn to get to the garage and then the stairs going down to the house entrance. We didn't mind, but it could be really tricky for people with don't want to or can't deal with that.

Perfect location and perfect views.
Loved every second we spent here. Great location away from the noise yet close enough to be where you want in minutes. Yes; the property may feel a little 'tired' in places (I read the previous reviews and new exactly what to expect) but that didn't detract in the slightest. It's all about the views anyway; from the second you park your car and walk down the steps, the lounge room, the balcony, the bedrooms (2 have fantastic outlooks) AND even a toilet with amazing views ! Really enjoyed staying here and look forward to doing so again.

Great view from unit
The unit has a great view and a lot of potential, high ceilings in living room, spacious, can walk to town in about 15-20 minutes. However it needs some remodeling, new furniture, new carpet needed on main floor, bedroom carpet is fine. Bathrooms were clean and remodeled. Kitchen needs new range. A more thorough cleaning should be done. It is worthy of a return visit, it would be nice to see it again after some remodeling. Visitors should be informed of steep driveway, and many outside steps to get to the front door. Out the back several steps down is a walking trail to town. We really enjoyed our walks to town on the trail.

Beautifully views, great location
We loved our week at Cherifah's lakeside home. Sipped our coffee on the stunning porch, walked through the gardens into town, cooked great meals in the full kitchen, and felt right at home. Highly recommend!
