"Amazing location. Who thought a prison would be so peaceful and gorgeous inside and out! Wish they had a gym!"

"It was perfectly adequate for our 2 nights in Oxford. Convenient location, but no AC and the entryway needs work... smells not so nice and old mattress in there. Very nice people, let us leave our luggage until we checked in. Mattresses need replacing, could feel the springs, but again, perfectly adequate."

"Fabulous location right on the river, had a great dinner on the terrace overlooking the boats and breakfast in the morning had a full range at the buffet as well as cooked options, went for the full English which was excellent. All the staff were friendly and informative and made us feel welcome. Our room had everything we needed including air conditioning as it was very hot when we stayed. There were a couple of areas in our room with thick dust on, the bed headboard and skirting boards in particular, the dark colour scheme shows up the dust. Also there was an ironing board in a black bag propped up against the wall on the way to the bathroom which I clattered into in the middle of the night as the bedside light didn’t work. Overall a fabulous stay though."

"If you are ok with lots of steep stairs and tight corridors, I definitely recommend this. Staff was helpful and the hotel has a reasonable nightly rate considering how central it is. The hotel does not offer any breakfast options but they give you some discount coupons for cafes nextdoor. The room was nice, very clean bathroom with showergel/shampoo/condition/lotion. There is a kettle and some tea bags. The bed wasn't very comfortable for me personally, and the pillow cases smelt a little bit damp. If I was staying more than one night I would've just asked them to change it."

River Hotel

"The River Hotel is a very charming small hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, like homemade, and the hospitality was excellent. The negatives are that it was quite hot (heatwave) with no air conditioning, and the considerable noise of the road/bridge work right outside the window. They did provide fans. That being said, we would consider returning during more pleasant weather and when the roadwork is complete. Thank you to the management and staff"
