    The hotel is right in the center of town on busy Broad Street, so convenient to all locations. Our room was on the back side, and quiet. However, they do warn you about the stairs, which are a real challenge if you are carrying heavy bags. Very narrow and winding. The room decor looks like a dormitory (maybe it was), so nothing special, and we found the beds and pillows to be rather uncomfortable. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

    If you have no mobility issues (there are many steps), but even then, I made it with assistance of darling staff, and my partner. The Buttery is on Broad St pedestrian street, surrounded by great restaurants and a super art supply shop. Real Italian 3 doors down, and next-door Greek breakfasts accept 10% for Buttery patrons. Ashmolean and Randolph Hotel just a couple of minutes and a Tesco as well. Debenhams on the corner. Perfect!

    What a great location! It was very hot and even without AC we were comfortable as the fan provided was quiet and effective. The only reason it didn't get all 5 stars are the steps needed to climb to get into the hotel. That said it is Oxford and we hope to stay there again.

    If you are ok with lots of steep stairs and tight corridors, I definitely recommend this. Staff was helpful and the hotel has a reasonable nightly rate considering how central it is. The hotel does not offer any breakfast options but they give you some discount coupons for cafes nextdoor. The room was nice, very clean bathroom with showergel/shampoo/condition/lotion. There is a kettle and some tea bags. The bed wasn't very comfortable for me personally, and the pillow cases smelt a little bit damp. If I was staying more than one night I would've just asked them to change it.

    The location was perfect on Broad Street. Understated entrance at street level, but wonderful historic accommodations inside upstairs. My room was clean, well-appointed with fans (it was unseasonably warm this summer) and the staff were helpful with recommendations for pubs to watch the World Cup matches. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Oxford.

    Love the location, right in the ZEZ beside the University! We were a group of five friends in three rooms and all had our own beds. Rooms were clean if not fancy, and we were thrilled to discover that we had air conditioning in each room because we arrived during the heat wave and it would have been unbearable. Great pubs a few minutes away. Breakfast is not provided but we are at Theo’s downstairs and it was delicious!

    This is a small, family-run hotel in a wonderful location! Many walking tours begin right next door. The staff was friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable. There are narrow stairs. They offer 10 % off at Theo's cafe on the ground floor, where we had lovely breakfasts every morning.

    Lovely stay at the Buttery - couldn’t believe our luck with how smack in the middle of everything it is. Maria on the desk was very helpful with our early arrival and storing our bags, as well as offering some great recommendations for coffee places and the perfect restaurant for a birthday dinner. Was a little concerned that our room was opposite the reception desk and faced the street as we thought it would be noisy. Thankfully it was absolutely fine and we didn’t hear a thing! The only small issue we had was that the rooms didn’t lock from the inside unless you used the old-fashioned room key. We had issues getting the door unlocked and it took multiple attempts. Had there been an emergency and a need to evacuate quickly this would have been seriously alarming. Other than that the bed was comfy and the toiletries were lush and it was a great stay!

    A very friendly hotel with a good location in the centre, there are quite a few stairs but if you’re fine with that I’d really recommend staying here, I had a single room, it was small but felt really cosy and relaxing, with everything I needed and a nice strong shower
