The best area to stay in Osma is the Old Town, particularly around the Plaza Mayor.

This historic centre is the heart of Osma, characterised by its pedestrian-friendly cobbled streets, traditional Basque architecture, and a relaxed pace. The Plaza Mayor, a beautiful arcaded square, is a natural gathering point and often features local markets or events. You'll find many of Osma's best restaurants and boutique shops tucked away in the streets just off the main square.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, the Old Town is ideal. You're within walking distance of the Cathedral of San Pedro, the Castle of Osma, and the charming riverside walks along the Ucero River. The evenings are particularly pleasant, with opportunities for leisurely dinners and strolls through the historic streets.

Families will also find the Old Town convenient. Many accommodations offer larger suites or apartments, and the pedestrianised nature of the area makes it easy to explore with children.

The best time to visit Osma is generally during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, making it ideal for exploring the town and its surroundings without the intense heat of summer or the chill of winter. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed experience when visiting attractions like the Osma Cathedral or the Castle of Osma.

For those interested in outdoor activities like hiking or cycling in the nearby Basque countryside, spring and autumn offer the most comfortable conditions. The natural landscapes are particularly beautiful during these seasons, with blooming flowers in spring and rich colours in autumn.

If you're planning a trip around local festivals, it's worth noting that many traditional events and celebrations take place during the summer months, particularly in August. While this can mean larger crowds, it also offers a unique opportunity to experience local culture and festivities.
