"This is the perfect place for an authentic Japanese experience. The staff are wonderful and the meals are superb. Tranquil surroundings with a 5 star multi-course meals each day for breakfast and dinner. The sauna and hot baths were great for winding down after a day of touring. Touring was easy because bus lines and train lines are nearby. We were sorry to leave the Tea House and really hope to return some day. "

Enryakuji is the perfect place where you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto and connect with nature. We took the cable car up Mount Hieizan and enjoyed a nice, leisurely walk through the woods to reach Enryakuji's main buildings. We then took the local bus back to Kyoto's main station. It's an especially picturesque place during peak foliage.
