Kauai Shores Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Great stay in the renovated rooms. Overall its an aging place with limited amenities and pools. Not a typical resort pool. Next to ocean is the best part, ocean is bit rough in this area. Great restaurant within the resort. Lava Lave food was great"

Kaua'i Palms Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Loved our cottage. Reviews were correct that the bathrooms are small, so if a spacious suite is what you want, go elsewhere and pay for it. We loved our stay. Clean, friendly staff and perfect for a place we used for sleeping, eating a few meals and getting ready for adventures. Nice kitchen, comfortable beds and not a bug to be seen during our three days."

OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa

OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa

8/10 Good
"I recently stayed at OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa and would give it 4 stars. The property was very clean, beautiful, and well-maintained. My room was spacious, clean, and the bed was comfortable. The location is convenient to the airport and several attractions, and there is a restaurant on the property. I also enjoyed the drinks from the bar! The resort is currently undergoing construction, so depending on where you are, you may hear some loud noise. It didn't really bother me, it was more of a “wow, that's loud” moment. I understand that work needs to be done, and the construction workers were very professional and respectful. They kept to themselves and never made guests feel uncomfortable, even when people were walking around in swimsuits. I did walk down to the beach, but there wasn't really anywhere to lay out, and the waves were too large for swimming during my stay. Part of the pool area was also closed, although I'm not sure why. My only real issue was housekeeping. My room was not serviced after my first night, even though the website states rooms are serviced daily. I didn't report it because I returned exhausted after spending the entire day exploring. I enjoyed my stay and found the staff very friendly. However, I personally spend most of my vacations out exploring, so I didn't use the pools, spa, fitness center, or other resort amenities. For my travel style, I'd probably choose a less expensive hotel next time rather than paying additional fees."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kealia?
The best area to stay in Kealia is along Kealia Beach Road, which offers direct access to the beach and a relaxed coastal experience. This area is primarily residential with a mix of holiday rentals and some smaller, boutique accommodations. It's characterised by its proximity to Kealia Beach, a long stretch of golden sand popular for surfing, bodyboarding, and sunbathing. The road itself runs parallel to the coastline, offering ocean views from many properties.Families will find this area particularly appealing due to the easy beach access. Many rentals here are larger, providing ample space and amenities like kitchens, which are convenient for preparing meals. The beach itself is wide enough for children to play, and there are often lifeguards on duty, offering some reassurance. For those seeking a more secluded and quiet break, the northern end of Kealia Beach Road, further away from the main highway, offers a more residential feel.
When is the best time to go to Kealia?
The best time to go to Kealia is during the shoulder seasons, specifically April to May and September to October, as these months offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds.During these periods, the weather is typically warm and sunny, with average temperatures in the mid-20s Celsius, making it ideal for outdoor activities like swimming, surfing, and hiking. You'll find the popular beaches, such as Kealia Beach, less crowded than in the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience.Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the quieter atmosphere, superb for enjoying sunset strolls along the coast or dining at local eateries without the bustling crowds. The reduced demand during shoulder seasons can also sometimes lead to better value on accommodation and flights. For families, these months offer a good balance of enjoyable weather for beach days and activities, without the intense heat or the large influx of tourists that characterise the summer holidays.
