"The Villa was new and up scale and roomy. It was super clean and great instruction on how to deal with the needs for our 2 days stay. The bedrooms was good size with comfortable Queens size bed and not those twin size. The beds were great and firm enough you know they weren't cheap material. The amenities were great with the sauna room was clean and equipped with sauna towel along with the private hot tub in the unit and no need to share. The balcony was great for BBQ with family and friends....

"I had such a relaxing time in Hakone retreat villa, its such a special place. The staff are very attentive and helpful, they even brought a spare charger to our room when we needed it. The private onsen was all we hoped for it would be. The Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast is also worth noting, the ingredients are seasonal and fresh and every dish had been delicious. I'd like to come back every season to enjoy nature like this."

"Except one thing that I will mention at the end — The room was nice and clean. The public baths were great (able to tried both located on 5F and 6F) - well maintained and clean. The view of 6F public bath was spectacular. It’s definitely not convenient location because it’s the terminus station of the bus from Gora. Going back to Gora you will definitely take hotel shuttle which ends at 5pm, or taxi. We happened coming from Gotemba where the bus stops right outside the hotel. So the only thing we didn’t like - the private hot tub in the room. (1) small that could just fit one (we happened to go to another onsen hotel and in-room tub could fit 2); the room’s tub is at the balcony… let’s not say it maybe too cold at night. It was very dark at night too. There were only very dim light at the corner of the balcony making it very dark at night. — the dark and cold and small tub making us impossible to enjoy the private tub in the room. Not sure how others would enjoy or do that at night. But we think it’s just something that looks nice for you to have but it’s just not practical."

"Location: one bus ride (45mins) from Odawara Station. Super easy to get to. Also has a private elevator that takes you to the Ropeway. Just ask staff where it is. Single bus to get back to Odawara as well. Check in: Seamless. Staff were so helpful. They take you up to your room and show you around and walk you through whatever package you’ve ordered/booked. Facility/Room: Amazing. We booked the private onsen (not sure if all rooms have it) and it was amazing. It was so comfortable in the room and frankly, beautiful from the layout/decorations to the view. Staff also came in and changed our set up so our futons were out and ready for bed for later. Dinner/Breakfast: very tasty. Many courses. Slightly lost on us, but great nonetheless. Staff: all amazing. We had one person who stuck with us through our stay. She was the one that showed us to our room and served us at meals. Went by Nana. So great. So helpful, and most of all patient with us when we butchered etiquette and decorum. Overall: Very pricey, but so worth it for the experience."

"The room was clean, spacious and quiet at night. Room service meals were delivered to the room and sign-up for onsen times were easy to arrange. I used the in-door/out-door onsen each evening and morning… instructions were clear - and being outside in the warm water under the shelter as the typhoon rains fell was very calming. I enjoyed the Japanese breakfast both mornings - beautifully presented without the polite service from staff - and ample self-service drinks (orange juice, apple juice and barley tea). The facility is a bit hidden - but figured it out. Check-in and check-out went smoothly."
