"Great service and very nice room. Dinner was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. The only downside (and it was quite a downside) is that our room was above the kitchen and the door was on an automatic closer which meant it slammed every time it shut. "I used this for an overnight stay, was welcomed nicely by the young man on duty, (who was very helpful and accommodating throughout the stay). Was surprised to find my room did not have a key to secure it when I went out for a meal though. Also television reception was intermittent, (didn’t matter too much as I was on a short overnight, but would have been irritating on a longer stay). Otherwise, things were fine."

"The check in and check out times of 5.00pm and 9.00am respectively struck me as rather restrictive. However, the owner, Sara, was most accommodating in allowing us to check in at 3.00pm. It was appreciated. The room was very comfortable and everything a guest needs was to be found, from plush dressing gowns, for wearing when going to the toilet which was not en suite per se, but next to the bedroom we stayed in, to slippers, a hair dryer and a mirror, to an iron and ironing board. Even the mugs...

"The Barleycorn is situated in the middle of a village, and it was lovely to listen to the wood pigeons burbling/cooing through the window. The rooms are not above the pub, but behind, and consequently quiet; ours was nicely furnished and the bed/mattress comfy. The owners are enthusiastic and welcoming. The main disadvantage to the location concerns traffic, such as Macdonald's lorries, that seems to race along the road: it makes finding somewhere to safely walk the dogs a little...
