"The toilets could have done with a clean, the window in the double bedroom kept flying open catch not working properly, under the sink needs a clean , and the oven . The host was spot on . All the animals were lovely. Beautiful setting and loved the geese that fly in . A view to die for. Thank you "

"The check in was very awkward because we were given the gate code but didn't know it was a secret. The attendant refrigerator had rotting food in it which filled the kitchen with awful stench that disuaded us from using the kitchen. The detached tower we stayed in was supposed to accommodate 4, but the sheet was ony large enough for one. We were invited to tour the main mansion, but with little direction on which places were off limits. "

"Could just cope for one night. It’s extremely dated, the heating was an old electric heater and didn’t really heat the room well, I was freezing and had to put layers on for bed because the duvet was very thin too. The room must have had a dog in previously, I had a really bad allergy reaction my eyes and nose were streaming and when I put my leggings on I had dog hairs all over them. The bathroom was nice but had a huge stain in the sink and some of the pipe boxing was falling off. The food wasn’t nice and very overpriced, I had a pie that had a very thin, greasy suet lid and the dish underneath was practically thin gravy with barely any meat at a very steep price of £19. I didn’t bother with breakfast however the continental was very well prepared with lots of options and catered well for my dairy free family members."

"Absolutely fantastic place to stay! We booked it for a quiet family birthday weekend away, and were all absolutely delighted with it. There were seven of us, and we all fitted in comfortably - the property is very comfortable and spacious, with great outdoor areas too. It is beautifully located with stunning views all round, close to Ilam Hall and the trail to the Dovedale Stepping Stones. We were just so impressed with how well-equipped the place was - everything needed for a fantastic stay was there. Thank you for a wonderful stay in the Peak District!"
