"Very good breakfast and the restaurant has amazing food"

"We loved the hotel! The desk staff was incredibly helpful, with information and recommendation about hikes and activities, and accurate information about driving time which helped us plan our days. The hotel alerted us during the night when the Northern Lights were visible -- we were delighted to be able to see them!"

"The rooms were clean and spacious, with wonderful views of the northern lights! Breakfast was plentiful, hot and delicious. Its neatly located just outside of Vik (a quick 10 min drive) so there's is options for dinner, drinks and tours of the surrounding area. "

"The breakfast at Hotel Akureyri was fantastic! Waffles, eggs, fresh bread and rolls and fresh fruit among other delicious goodies! The hotel was in walking distance to many activities in the area and the staff was super helpful in finding a place for dinner. The rooms were very nice. The only negative side to this hotel was a lack of laundry service. When I booked this hotel in July 2025 for an April 2026 visit, the booking site said Hotel Akureyri had laundry services. They did not. But the rest of my visit there was amazing "

"Great location, very nice and quiet. Nice upgrades they are working on and some completed. Very efficient team. Only notes are the very dim lighting everywhere and there is no chain or bar lock on the room doors, just a turn lock that is hard to tell when its engaged. Would recommend adding for guests peace of mind."

"The room was very spacious and clean. We paid a little extra to get the balcony, spa and breakfast. The staff was amazing from checkin to checkout. Breakfast was bountiful and excellent. The spa had two hot tubs and a sauna plus a relaxing area with heated floors. We went two times during our stay since it was included. The view of Reykjavik was beautiful and since we visited in late April there was light in the sky very early and late at night. We will definitely be back."
