"We spent two days at the property as a group of 9 friends and had a great time ! The house is huge and has plenty of space for a group this size. The garden, hot tub and farm animals were also a lovely addition. We went for nice country walks and explored some of the pubs nearby, including one that is a 10 minute walk away which was really nice. "It's not the best example of a four star hotel. I wouldn't give it that rating - maybe a good 3 star. It's not very fancy. The layout is rubbish. I had to walk through the leisure centre to get to my first floor room. I don't know why the stairs were so far away from reception. Odd. The bed gave a comfortable sleep. The room was a bit noisy because it was near a connecting door but apart from that, it was a good size. The shower and the toiletries were fine. You could tell that the hotel was a bit dated but the decor was fine. We were having poor weather for May, so I appreciated the radiator being on. The breakfast was a reasonable standard. It had some local produce which was nice to see - Shropshire tea and Ludlow preserves. I appreciated the healthy options like porridge "toppings" even though there was no actual porridge (at least, if there was I didn't see it and I didn't ask!). The staff were a little bit "casual" but friendly enough. I mean, it was one of those situations where they were busy talking and interacting with each other and not paying me much attention as a customer. I thought paying for parking was a bit of a surprise but in the end the charge worked out OK for the length of my stay."

"The hotel looks tired including the decor at the entrance of faded artificial flower garlands and lounge furniture Cleaners cleaning bathroom surfaces with bathroom towels and wiping glasses and mugs with napkins rather than washing them Wobbly toilet roll holder and toilet seat"

"Bar food and staff are excellent. We took our dog who is well behaved and staff fussed over her. Room was clean and comfortable. Very old pub so sloping floors were bit of a giggle. Parking at St Julians carpark is a doodle if you down load the app. 5 mins walk from the pub. People moan about noise from pub in rooms in some reviews but they shut up by 10:30 and it becomes quiet as a church yard so no problem. (Might be different when they have live music so best check if you retire early)"
