This hotel is just a block from Times square and our room even had a view of it. It was a comfy bed and nice overall place to stay. Close to Central park and the subway. Most of the staff were nice but some were very short and seemed irritated to help us at the front desk. they do have $100 deposit for the stay which is not disclosed on this website at all. Also, it says $35 valet parking per night but its 24 hours not per night. So when we dropped the car off at 33pm and picked it up at 430pm the next day we had to pay $70 not $35.
Overall I would stay there again though!
This hotel was right in the middle of times Square with easy access to just everything. The concierge was very helpful and the breakfast was great. They also have a little food area where you can buy yogurt in light things so you don't have to stop for a big breakfast. It was so quiet and we were on the 44th floor. i would definitely recommend this hotel.
Noisy & unimpressive Reception area. Room very small but OK despite being "Superior". We've stayed in hundreds of hotels all over US including NYC & this was the ONLY one without a facility to make coffee/tea etc in the room.
Right next to Times Square, subways, and a room with a great view over it all!
Best concierge I have ever met (Phillip).
No swimming pool and small but usable gym.
No question I would stay there again.
Ihave been staying at the London before it was The London. Large rooms are great. Staff excellent. The men out in front and in the lobby I have known since I first stayed. I just love them and they always greet me!
Best thing about the Jewel is it's location- just opposite the Rockefeller centre. It's a short walk to cafes, restaurants, subway stop, shops, Times square etc. It has no grand entrance, you might easily miss it; in fact there is just one door with the word Jewel above it ! It is sometimes called Club Quarters so it was a bit confusing. By leaving the hotel and walking a few doors down you enter another door and on the 7th floor is a bar / restaurant and breakfast room. Breakfast was quite good and sitting outside in the bar with a view down to St Patrick's cathedral was pleasant. I was rather disappointed with the room( a standard queen)- it was small and a bit old fashioned and dark and dingy with a view over an inner courtyard and a very dirty window. However- although in a central position there was no noise from the streets to be heard at all and we enjoyed a brilliantly undisturbed sleep on all 4 nights ! Also free coffee from a machine and free chilled water.
Stayed 3 nights at Distrikt. Perfect location, near Times Sq and Hell's Kitchen between 8th and 9th. Room and bath were good sized for 2 people, with free in room coffee. Excellent walking distance to MTA and several easy and affordable places to eat close by: 2 Brothers Pizza on the corner was really good and the breakfast markets were easy and cheaper than the hotel buffet. 15th floor was quiet, and not a lot of hallway noise or street noise. We liked staying on a less busy street, but enjoyed walking just a few blocks to the night life. Shows and bars are all really close. Didn't even use cabs.
Will be back!
