Fantastic location great hotel, we had expected a small room as we're in new york but bathroom was smallest i've ever seen and dont think that having a set of drawers in room to put away tops etc was too much to ask for , but would recommend this hotel for location only
The hotel is 2 minutes from Times Square but late night noise was not a problem. The room was clean & comfortable if a little small as we were moving onto a cruise so had several cases which could not be unpacked. The wardrobe could only hold a few items and nothing longer than a t-shirt as the safe takes up too much room so we lived out of suitcases. Staff were friendly & extremely helpful & overall this is a very good, conveniently placed hotel.
"Nice accommodations in the heart of Times Square"
We spent 6 wonderful nights at Hotel St. James last week for vacation. The hotel facilities are clean, the staff friendly and accommodating and the location is exceptional. I am in the Hospitality industry and you will have all of your basic needs met here. While it is true that the facilities are basic in nature, I found the hotel to be exceptional for our needs. We were in NYC to enjoy the city and all that it has to offer, not stay in our room.
The beds were comfortable and clean. The service from our housekeeper was exceptional. We felt safe and there was a bit of an "era gone by" charm to the hotel.
We arrived at around 11am and were given a prompt check-in since our room was ready (major plus) and were able to secure our luggage on lockers at checkout since we had an evening flight.
Tidy hotel and very close to time square. Great gym (when parents aren't using it for children's playground ) only negative was for busy summer season and for four of the six days we were there lift was out of order to main lobby - for the rating, service turn around time on something like this should be much quicker
This hotel is in a great location for all of the things we wanted to do in the city. It's at time square, if you're going to see a Broadway play, it's perfect. Central Park is right there, and fifth avenue is 2 streets over. If you want to go to the freedom tower you get on the subway station right outside the hotel and it will take you straight there.
The brightest lights of this big city are found in the Broadway - Times Square neighborhood. Experience live entertainment, such as musicals and plays, or tour Rockefeller Center. The iconic St. Patrick's Cathedral graces the entire block of Fifth and 50th and welcomes more than 5 million visitors each year. This thriving area filled with pedestrians also hosts NBC, ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.
