"We spent a long weekend meeting up with family who were staying just a mile away. The location was perfect—conveniently close to the beach, great restaurants, and plenty of island amenities. The 2-bedroom space was clean and well-appointed, with a stocked kitchen (though we’d recommend bringing extra spices if you’re planning to cook often). Having an in-house washer and dryer was a huge plus!Sheets and towels were provided, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Do note that there’s a set of stairs leading up to the entrance, which was manageable for us but worth keeping in mind if anyone in your group requires accessibility accommodations.Kevin, the owner, was 100% communicative and readily available for any questions, which made our stay even smoother.Nearby essentials were super convenient—Food Lion is just a mile to the right, with the community pool just before it (and it definitely came in handy!). There are also several great dining options within walking distance. We especially enjoyed Ketch 55 and The Mad Crabber for dinner, and Muffins & Scones for breakfast—they had delicious options, including gluten-free items.A quick tip: bring your own reading material! There weren’t many options for books or magazines nearby, but we found a wonderful bookstore in Buxton—Buxton Village Books—that’s absolutely worth the trip.All in all it was a great stay and we would 100% return again to this location!!!"

"It was perfect for what we needed! Bed was comfortable and plenty of room in bedroom for suitcase etc. We didn't use the kitchen, but anything we could have needed was there. Most importantly- it was clean! "

"The DECK was absolutely perfect. A very accurate listing plenty of space, cookware/dishware, with a great grilling area. With multiple places to eat meals it felt like we were at 5 different restaurants. Location was nice - it was a short walk to the beach (2min) and a short drive to the fish market(3min)/grocery store(5min). Chuck (property manager) was very prompt to responding to emails for any of the questions we had throughout the trip."

"We had a wonderful stay at the Misty Mermaid- it was beautiful and clean…lots of space and all we needed. Short walk to the beach and great views from the multiple balconies. We would definitely stay again! Also great communication with owner! "

"This lovely property is situated idyllically right on the sound, with gorgeous sunset views, comfy beds and truly delightful decor throughout. VERY clean. Nice quiet, yet friendly neighborhood. The ocean side is a 3 minute drive away, and the overall location was near enough to everything our group wanted to see.Our only issues were supplies: For a 4-night stay, we were left only 2 pods for the dishwasher (and after each cycle there was always a clump of hardened detergent left in the dishwasher dispenser), only 2 pods for the clothes washer, and NO extra trash bags. Communication with the "host" - a property mgmt company - was OK, except when I texted to see if add'l trash bags were perhaps stored someplace we hadn't found, I got what seemed to be an automated reply that ignored my question and instead told me what days the trash is picked up.We all agreed we would stay here again the first chance we got!"
