Alicante is known for its beautiful beaches and luxury resorts, but an authentic Spanish experience awaits just beyond the city’s Mediterranean coastline. Discover historic architecture, traditional Spanish cuisine and international galleries and museums within this harbour city. Alicante is located on the Costa Blanca, a 200-kilometre (124-mile) stretch of scenic Spanish Mediterranean east coast.
See wide-reaching panoramic views of the city from atop Mount Benacantil at the Castle of Santa Bárbara. The castle’s ramparts give unparalleled views of the harbour and city and can be reached on foot or by car or elevator.
Alicante’s Old Town lies just below the castle and features many of the city’s historic buildings and art museums. See the Basilica of Santa Maria, the oldest active church in the city, and the fine Spanish Baroque architecture of the San Nicolás Cathedral. Visit the Alicante Town Hall and admire the extravagant interior decoration.
Alicante’s famous beaches are just a short distance from the city centre. Intricate mosaic tiles lead the way along Explanada de España to Postiguet Beach, which sits below Mount Benacantil. Enjoy a day out sailing, windsurfing or playing volleyball on the wide Playa de San Juan bay, accessible by a convenient tram from the city.
Spend a morning at the Central Market mixing with the locals and trying fresh produce. Eat local seafood and authentic Spanish cuisine at the restaurants along the Alicante Harbour. Enjoy fresh paella or arroz negro, a rice dish coloured with squid ink.
Alicante’s compact city centre makes it easy to get around on foot. Most attractions are a short walk from the centre. A convenient network of trams and buses also operate in the area. Alicante’s Mediterranean climate means hot summers, mild winters and very low annual rainfall.
Reach Alicante by sea on one of the ferries or cruise ships that go in and out of the harbour. The nearest international airport is Alicante-Elche airport, located 20 minutes from the city centre by bus. A high-speed train service runs from Barcelona and Madrid.
Was very clean and tidy only thing that let this place down was the entertainment really.... and the weather but its not the hotels fault although the life guard did tell us to get out the pool in the middle of a thunderstorm which made no sence as was wet anyway lol.
Beautiful hotel, wonderful helpful staff, breakfast very varied. If better soundproofing it would be perfect. Above and below floors, and rowdy guests outside hotel talking could be heard with windows firmly shut.
7th-floor rooms are noisy when someone is using the treadmill on the 8th floor (gym)
Was really good for a short weekend away with the lads, more family oriented but when ya have a few beers down you, you don’t mind and the beers cheep
Love this Hotel, had two trips to Benidorm already this year in the same Hotel our 11th visit to Sol Pelicanos Ocas. Staff always very attentive, pool is amazing just a shame about the smokers who will drop their "butts and ash" where it drops and not in the ash trays as provided. Pool always very ...
