Lets face it Hotel Palazzo Caracciolo is not in the smartest part of town and, on first arrival, seems very isolated.
BUT, it is a very comfortable hotel, has great staff, rooms, bar and relaxation areas.
Get used to the area and you find very warm and down-to-earth locals and it's not that for from the centre of town.
If you arrive by train, as we did, you can walk to the hotel from the station or take Metro 2 to Cavour and catch trolleybus 203 going downhill over the road from the Metro station to Via Carbonara. HOWEVER, before you go DOWNLOAD a public transport map as they seem to be unavailable anywhere in Naples and purchase a Daily Unico Naples Card from any shop selling Tickets. This gives all day transport on Metro and buses.
Get a map and discover the town. What ever you do, experience the Metro 1 station at Toledo and it smart shopping street. Also go on a trip around the underground streets at Via Tribunali, 316 - Piazza San Gaetano through the church of San Lorenzo Maggiore and see the the Grecco Roman world of Naples.
Smart evening drinks and views are on the sea front - take the R2 bus from the bus station. EXPLORE

The hotel was beautiful - the saying goes "never judge a book by its cover" this is what this hotel is all about. Though the hotel is situated at a busy central area, the staff are friendly, even the visitors are friendly, the rooms are clean, there was nothing negative about this hotel. We are planning our next visit to Naples and we have already chosen the hotel - "UNA HOTEL"
This B&B is difficult to find, as the B&B is a floor within a large building with only a small bronze plaque outside, so ensure you have directions/map before arriving. Nearest metro station is Universita.
Staff were very friendly and spoke very good English, wifi is free and it is in a good, safe location.
We have stayed in this hotel twice for quite long periods of time. The main asset of the hotel are the staff who are very hard working professionals and very friendly people. They really make you feel at home there. The hotel is in the old centre of Naples close to many cultural places of interest and right in the epicentre of Neapolitan life.
We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely with a good variety of food available. Shame about the surrounding area. Poverty was evident and didn't want to wander down the side streets at night. Very convenient to bus and train station which was all we needed really to visit the attractions. Take care crossing the road!! traffic is chaotic.
