I was relying on public transportation, so this hotel was ideal for its location, just a few blocks up from the Gare Centrale and around the corner from the Place d'Armes metro. The staff were efficient and kind, and I had a pleasant, tidy room at a reasonable rate. I will be coming back the next time I need a place overnight in Montreal!
"Great location, very cosy, great for young couples"
Great hotel, on a Main Street in Montreal. Very clean and well kept, cute boutique hotel. Don't know why people give it bad ratings, was perfect for my boyfriend and I for an overnight trip in the city. We're a young couple who was going to stay in a hostel but decided on this hotel and couldn't have been happier. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
My wife and I were planning to visit Montreal for three days as part of a road trip. Hotels with parking in the centre of Montreal were very expensive and so we chose this hotel which was much cheaper but a short drive away from the centre. The hotel looks like one you would expect to see in a city. Instead it has been built next to a busy road in a mixed residential/commercial area. However none of this was a problem. The hotel is extremely comfortable with excellent facilities. The room was spacious, with attractive good quality furniture and had all the usual things you would expect - wi-fi, fridge, tv. Breakfast was perfectly adequate and the staff were pleasant, obliging and professional. There is unlimited free parking - a huge area so no question of not getting a space. There are shops, supermarkets and restaurants not far from the hotel. Getting to Montreal from the hotel involves a drive of around15-20 minutes.
3 nights: very lucky to get a clean corner room (Queen room has bathtub), so excellent day-lighting + enough space for 2 people. enough outlets for re-charging. each brekkie: a warm pc of pre-sliced baguette plus warm croissant, comes w/ peanut butter, jam, butter, honey (i put in coffee), Tea/Cf, juice box. small fridge is handy since IGA Grocery right across street on St Cath has sushi/cold/hot food take out! then i found the food court (lots of choices) beside IGA leads to Berri-Uq Station which was great since it was raining. plus lots of dining choices St Cath, St Denis nearby. room temp perfect as it got cold in MTL in late Sep, has extra blanket in drawer if needed. one front staff was willing to boil water when i needed, thanks !
We loved our stay at the Auberge de la Place Royale. It is in a beautifully maintained historic building. The rooms are large and charming, and there was a chalkboard on the room doors welcoming the guests. It was the perfect place to stay when visiting historic Montreal.

Excellent location, quaint Victorian manor. Reminded me of small hotels in Paris. I was travelling alone so my small room with dbl bed was great, bathroom excellent with a shower.
Continental breakfast included. Staff very pleasant and hotel very clean. It is an older Victorian manor style building so one must expect the condition to be older but updated. Everything was excellent.

This is the second year in a row that we have stayed at Hotel Elegant while in Montreal. And we were just a pleased with it this year as we were last year. We were in town for the Comic Convention and were not in our room for much time, but it was exactly what we were looking for! Pleasant staff, clean room and parking right in front of the hotel! Couldn't ask for more(and at an awesome price). I would absolutely book there again!
