Admire the homes of San Francisco’s rich and famous at Nob Hill. This neighborhood is known for its wonderful architecture and history. Wander along the hilly streets and explore one of San Francisco’s wealthiest communities. Inspect antique cable cars at the Cable Car Museum.

Nob Hill was settled in the late 19th century. Its stunning views and central location helped secure its status as an elite, upscale district. Join a walking tour around this historic area and admire the elegant mansions that belong to its wealthy residents. Look for high-end luxury hotels, such as the Fairmont and the 1920s Mark Hopkins Hotel, as you stroll through this pretty part of town.

Relax in Huntington Park, a small public park with grassy areas and fountains. The park is particularly popular among local joggers and dog walkers.

Bordering the park to the west is the ornately decorated Grace Cathedral, which dates back to 1964. Sign up for a behind-the-scenes tour to discover the interior of the Chapel of Grace and other rarely seen areas. This beautiful cathedral contains work by renowned Polish painter Jan Henryk De Rosen as well as a chapel altarpiece designed by American artist and social activist Keith Haring.

Transit enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Cable Car Museum. Learn about San Francisco’s cable car heritage and browse a collection of vintage cable cars and old photographs. This unique museum also features a gift shop selling museum merchandise and collectables.

Dine in one of Nob Hill’s restaurants or bars. Alternatively, ride a cable car to the Ferry Building Marketplace from Nob Hill in less than 20 minutes. Try international cuisine in one of the market’s many award-winning restaurants.

Nob Hill is located west of San Francisco’s Financial District, about 14 miles (23 kilometers) from San Francisco International Airport.
