"Bridget, the motel manager, was lovely—she called ahead to check our arrival time and made sure everything was perfect with the room. The place has been nicely renovated. We drove, so we’re not sure about nearby facilities, but Wanaka is absolutely beautiful.

Lots of great hikes and walks: Roy's Peak is a hard but amazing hike. River walk is easy and gorgeous. Diamond lake is also nice. Nice outdoor eatery with various food trucks 2 blocks back from the lake (but no alcohol served)

Wanaka was great, as a family we enjoyed exploring the town including bars restaurants and enjoying the lake. We went to the lavender farm which was beautiful and enjoyed a morning at puzzle town. You do need to car to access all of these things.

Awesome town and beautiful lake. Queenstown is beautiful but Wanaka has a nicer feel about it - less touristy.

A stunning town, ideal to relax in. There appeared to be plenty to do for the more adventurous, however, we didn't feel the need to participate in anything hectic!

Wanaka is a perdect holiday spot. Unfortunately pretty crowded. If it comes to rhe bicycle event, even worse. However, outside of town plenty walking opportunities

Beautiful area! Too much construction that required a rerouting BACK -45 minutes to return to Wanaka and then driving 1 1/2 hours to Queenstown on Hwy 6. No signs posted near Wanaka warning drivers previous to the pass closure.

Check out Ya Ma's, Scroggin, and definitely do some skiing at Cardrona!
"Loved it! Easy walking distance to the lake and heaps of cafes. We stayed in the budget 2 bedroom self contained cottage and although old it was the perfect choice for us and excellent value for money. I thought we would be really cold but there were heaps of blankets and more than enough heaters to go round. Great spot to set yourself up in for access to Cardrona and the Snow Farm. Hot water and pressure were great. Only thing I didn’t love was that there was no drop box for the room key as we departed early. I didn’t feel right leaving it in an unlocked box that could easily be opened by the next person and I didn’t have a code handy for the safe box. It was a little stressful figuring out what to do when we were in a hurry to leave for a full day on the slopes. I ended up giving the key to the guy in the office next to reception. Overall would recommend and stay again!"
"Stayed single room twin bed ensuite.
Private rooms are expensive in Wanaka. By far the first most expensive private room in NZ.
All good with essentials however which the bathroom are equipped with heater.
2 minutes walk to Four Square grocery and lots of eateries.
Only negative issue is bathroom is very cold in private room ensuite as there is no heater as compared to Haka Tekapo which has heater in both room and bathroom.
The detergents are diluted with 10% detergent and 90% water, guess that’s to save cost.
I bought my own detergent (not expensive from brand Pam’s) from four square to make sure the oily utensils are cleaned and oil free. "
"Room was very comfortable and warm on arrival. It was difficult to maintain the warmth however as the heatpump went off on a very cool night, Warm again in the morning. Very clean and lovely staff. Thank you for a lovely stay."
