Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge was a decent place to stay - but it didn't reach 5-star quality (which for me required a little more luxury and space). Our room had a slightly saggy queen bed plus a separate twin bed. There was not enough room to lay down the suitcases except on the twin bed. Not sure how people managed if there actually were 3 people in the room. There was a small fridge, small round table with two narrow chairs and one easy chair by the door. Shower water pressure was excellent although the shower itself needed sprucing up. The sink was small, so one had to be careful not to turn the water up too high or risk splashing. The lighting set up over the sink was slightly strange - there were 3 small high intensity halogen lights pointing at you. I overheard a guest at breakfast saying that she got a burn trying to re-direct the lamps... Although our room was near the highway, it was quiet because there was no traffic on the road at night (until about 6AM). Breakfast a little skimpy - continental fare with a slightly limp croissant and toast. Coffee a little weak. There was yogurt, fruit and cereal/muesli. The host Richy was very friendly and informative. One could tell that he was fond of his town!

Thank you for your visit to the village of Waitomo Sorry to hear you did not feel we reached 5 star We are not and never hope to achive those dizzy heights As advertised we are a small family run bed and breakfast with the family budget in mind.And as waitomo is a farming community we do get some morning traffic. stock going to market etc But its usually good.The lighting in the bathroom yes we do have halogen bulbs as we find ladies tend to seek good lighting to apply makeup etc So I guess we cant win on that oneBreakfast well I get plenty of compliments on that But hey, the customer is always right.

Lyn and Richey are wonderful hosts. They shared a wealth of information about the area and the beautiful birds they have at this time of year. They had a lovely continental breakfast and were warm, welcoming, and generous. Though we were only there one night, we had a great stay.

Very friendly owners. Helpful with sightseeing. Parking was down a small hill but safe. The room was comfortable. The bathroom was complete with shower but very small. Would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay here: the hosts are outstanding, the value is excellent, and the location most convenient. Perhaps my expectations were too high as it was truly wonderful on a previous stay in 2019, but it has slipped some since then. This is an older property, the rooms are very clean but plain, and one person in our party had a very uncomfortable night due to difficulty with the heat controls. Breakfast was mediocre. I hesitated to gave this 5 stars, but the location and price allowed me to overlook the defects.

Very cozy place. Amazing restaurant on the other side of the street. Owners are fantastic people and very polite and courteous. The only thing is the heater was not functioning well and the night was cold but other than that, very nice place.

A great place to stay near the Waitomo Cave’s
Conveniently located near the Waitimo Caves, and the owners were very attentive and super friendly. Also appreciated the generous continental breakfast. Most importantly, the suggestion for a night hike on the Ruakuri bushwalk trail was a great bonus and they even had torches ready for people who wanted go on a hike, where you can see the glowworms for free!

I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. The owners are super helpful and gracious. The location is wonderful too. Very close to the fabulous glowworm caves. Right across the street from a highly rated restaurant.

Very friendly hosts who had an excellent knowledge of things to do around the area, and were even able to find us a spot on an otherwise booked out tour. Also home to a delightful cat who just added to a very pleasant stay. Would definitely recommend.

The property is about 700 m from the Waitomo Caves Visitor Centre and Caves, easily walkable but with a large car park opposite. It is also next door to the small Museum and Education/Visitor Centre and Genral Store. Opposite Huhu restaurant (well worth eating here). A warm welcome awaits you from Richey who will give you an orientation to the village. Our room was large and with a separate bathroom. Some rooms have a shared facility. A wonderful continental breakfast with plenty of variety.
