Townhouse Hotel

60 Corporation Street, Cape Town - Map
It has been two years since we last stayed at the Townhouse Hotel, and the experience was just as good as it was the first time. The staff was very friendly, and quite knowledgeable, not only of the hotel, but of Cape Town, and all that it has to offer. We are looking forward to returning with our family from the USA so they too can share in this great experience.

Hippo Boutique Hotel - Cape Town Hotels

Hippo Boutique Hotel

5-9 Park Road, Gardens, Cape Town - Map
"The Heart of Kloof."
Nestled almost invisible from sight in the vibrant and eclectic area of Kloof Street, is a laid back oasis of calm and comfort called The Hippo. Just like the hippo it remains almost hidden from sight, but in reality it is very large when you view the full aspects of this unique little hotel. It offers easy access to the many and varied vibrant Restaurants and Bars of Kloof and Long Street which is easily accessible for any Hippo resident prepared to leave the mud pool of comfort to wallow in the culture of the local splendour of the melting pot outside. No car is required, for the able you can traverse some of the best parts of Cape Town's dining and social expiriences on foot, just like the hippo, and a short taxi ride can take you to some of Cape Towns most spectacular expeiriences, or the My Citi bus for those more challanged by the financial mud of life. A jaw dropping hotel, in the middle of the main watering hole in Cape Town, simply irresistable.

Cape Town Hollow Boutique Hotel

"Great hotel, relatively short walk to waterfront!"
Wasn't sure what to expect but took a gamble on this small boutique... it ended up being one of the best choices I made on my trip to the Cape. Apart from some construction happening at the planetarium across the street and some noise isolation between rooms (I could hear a neighbor taking a shower), it was really an enjoyable experience. Thankfully I had quiet, polite neighbors, otherwise I could see needing to move elsewhere in the hotel given the lack of noise isolation. Apart from this minor issue, the staff were all exceedingly polite and helpful. The food was quite delicious (both breakfast and dinner). The music was tranquil and I didn't get that stuffy euro-techno ultra-modern vibe I get with a lot of upscale boutiques. I felt as if the staff was genuinely interested in my safety and experience staying at the hotel. They even held onto our luggage on the last day after checkout so that we could take a tour or Robben Island unencumbered--- we picked up our luggage after the tour and headed straight for the airport. Apart from this, the location was central to the main Long Street strip and about a 30-40 minute walk (or 10 minute taxi/transfer ride to the waterfront). When I return to Cape Town, I will assuredly return to this hotel if it's available.

"Hotel convenient to sights in Cape Town."
Spent two nights there, both quite comfortable. Took two tours the hotel staff recommended and both were good. Convenient to walk to good places in Cape Town too. Rooms are good, not great but fine. No elevator to upper floors is a pain with luggage, but how bad depends on how much you have. Staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Included breakfast was good too.

"A charming unique hideaway in Central Capetown"
Charming & helpful staff. Not a hotel as such but 2 whole roads (actually 2 short cul de sacs)that have been bought up and the charming terraced houses turned into suites and self catering rooms. Area of Kloof Str great for bars and restaurants and a short, safe walking distance from the Mount Nelson Hotel for extra grandeur. Breakfasts large and offering much variety. Bathroom toileteries upmarket Charlotte Rhys. Decor modern, chic and tasteful. Certainly would book again and recommend. Just one downside, parking very difficult as road short but you can offload and park elsewhere. Shops and supermarkets in Kloof Str for self catering supplies. They are also linked to an upmarket Private Game Reserve near the Kruger Park and can book you. Why am I giving my secrets away. I should rather keep this gem for myself!!
