James Bay Inn is by far our favourite place to stay in Victoria! The hotel staff are friendly, welcoming, and make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. It's perfectly situated within Victoria to allow for easy walks to all the beautiful sights. Can't wait to come back soon!

Building is very old but ok. In the bathroom, the shower is very small. It was a short walking distance to the Beacon Hills park and children animal farm. Very quiet, nice area, right on the Goverment street a 2 min walk to Emily Carr's historical house. Onside restaurant was delicious.

Lovely old hotel in the Beacon Hill district. Lots of stairs a bit of a challenge for an older person, but staff very helpful. Quirky and lots of character

This is a vintage building with all the little quirks associated with that. Floors that are not level and creak, no A/C only a fan, etc. It adds to the charm and experience. Bed was comfortable. Staff at check in was very personable and greeted other guests by name. The horse drawn carriages pass outside regularly during the day, but seemed to stop around 9pm. The clip clop of their hooves adds to the charm. I would stay here again, but likely not during a heat wave or very hot weather.
