Hotel Orto de’ Medici

Hotel Orto de’ Medici

10/10 Excellent
"The hotel is conveniently located about an 18-minute drive from the airport. It's also absolutely perfectly situated for exploring Florence, very central with loads of excellent food and drink options just a 5-minute walk away. Most historical sites and galleries are within a 5-10 minute walk. We were there during a heat wave with temperatures around 38°C (100°F), so the proximity to everything was a real blessing. Our room was on the 4 floor. The view from the balcony was nice - you could see the hills and, if you turn your head about 135 degrees, you can catch a glimpse of the iconic Duomo's dome. The room itself was very spacious, with a lovely bathroom. On check-in, it looked clean on the surface, but the floor under the bed was dusty and unfortunately remained unswept throughout our stay. The rest of the room was cleaned properly though. Toilet roll provision was a bit sparse. The room had a small table fridge, but the drinks inside were expensive - you're better off buying your drinks from outside. The AC was very good, a must in the intense summer heat. A major plus: complimentary ice lollies were available throughout our stay, not just on arrival. The lack of lunch and dinner service in the hotel wasn't a major issue given all the nearby restaurants, although Some great restaurants very close by though. Parking is quite expensive at €40 a night, with valet service that requires you to hand over your key and notify the hotel an hour before you want the car back.Breakf"

8/10 Good
"I loved the hotel decor! And the hotel staff were great! Check-in/check-out was a breeze. Super helpful and knowlegeable staff. The room was a bit small but cozy, clean and a very comfy bed. There is minimal area to store/hang clothing. There was a mini safe in the room. The bar fridge included water and cream for coffee/tea which was provided at no additioal charge. The patio area is quite lovely with a variety of sitting areas, umbrellas and misters. The restaurant staff was great but the food is very pricey and not fabulous. This hotel is located within walking distance to restaurants, shops, farmacias. It was about a $15 EU cab fare from the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station to the hotel."

Villa Olmi Firenze

Villa Olmi Firenze

10/10 Excellent
"We recently spent a week at Villa Olmi and had the most incredible time. The hotel itself is beautiful, a peaceful oasis to escape the busy city. The grounds were kept beautifully and the pool area in particular felt so pristine, plenty of fresh towels, super clean and drinks/food delivered to your sun bed- a total dream! Rooms were great with air con that kept them cool during the recent heatwave. Our room near the pool was the perfect location too, literally steps to our sun beds. The bathrooms could do with updating I feel, but they were fine and kept clean. All staff at the hotel were so lovely, warm and welcoming. The reception team were always helpful with questions we had (for example needing a different adapter for our plugs!). The wait staff were also all very attentive and friendly. The housekeeping team also- working that job during hot weather must be tough but they were so smiley and kind. Food at breakfast was great, such a good selection. The restaurant was also super tasty and a lovely setting to have dinner. One comment would be more of a varied menu, we were there for a week and the menu didn’t change so we did go elsewhere for variety. The shuttle bus was very useful and a great addition to have as it’s too far to walk into Florence. However I think a later shuttle bus to allow staying out for dinner would have been great, also dropping closer to the city centre as the 20 min walk from the bus was hard in the heat. Overall an excellent stay!"

"We stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon, and it was perfect! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and specious and the AC was amazing for how hot it was! The property is very well maintained, the pool is lovely and we very much enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast and dinner a few nights. While we loved the quiet location, it is about a 15 minute drive to downtown Florence, so cabs back and forth can get expensive. Regardless, it was an absolutely wonderful stay and would recommend!"
