We always love staying at the Capella but were disappointed with our recent stay and didn’t find the facilities and maintenance up to the usual standard. We chose a Constellation Room as we were keen to have a view and a jacuzzi for a special weekend away. We arrived to find the maintenance panel beside the jacuzzi open with tools and a dirty cloth splayed out. The jacuzzi was also ice cold (which may be how it is intended to be in the Singapore heat but wasn’t what we expected!) The room was clean but the shower didn’t drain and, after 2 minutes of showering, would be full to the brim and spilling over on to the bathroom floor. When the shower finally drained, there was a strong sewage smell in both the shower and the rest of the bathroom which lingered in the room and was very off putting. Repeated requests to the front desk didn’t get this sorted during our stay nor was there really any appropriate reaction indicating an understanding of why this would be a problem and not something a guest should expect to endure for the duration of their stay.
A great shame as the view is lovely and it ought to have been one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in at the Capella.
Other than the maintenance issues, service, as ever, was excellent, particularly at The Knolls and at the poolside.
