"Refurbished older hotel . Room was spacious and very clean. The only negative, is lack of bathroom extraction which causes mirrors and surfaces to fog up. Perhaps extraction is difficult to retro fit in older buildings. The reception and public spaces are bright and well kept. Wait staff are very friendly and attentive. All staff are friendly and polite. We would stay here again. "

"The room was very clean and comfortable, and it came with dishes and bowls—but no pots. Since the only nearby restaurant closes early, we had to drive over 20 minutes into town to buy food to cook ourselves. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize until after washing all the ingredients that pots need to be rented from the reception for NZD 10. Luckily, a kind young couple from a campervan lent us theirs, otherwise we would have gone hungry that night! Overall, the location is not the most convenient for meals or transport, but the nearby hiking trails are truly beautiful. And if you’re brave enough, you can even head out at night to look for wild glowworms."
