You can also glean a whole host of information about iconic Antipodean creatures such as pouched marsupials, koalas, red kangaroos, wallabies and Tasmanian devils. The Australian Wetlands section has a selection of native birds, crocodiles, frogs and tortoises, while if you stroll through the Nocturnal House, you’ll encounter some of the spiders, reptiles and birds that roam the desert surrounding Perth Zoo.For adventures of a reptilian kind, in the Reptile Encounter you’ll discover a world of slippery critters from all over the world along with a selection of Aussie snakes, lizards and turtles. Everyone loves penguins and will enjoy The Penguin Plunge, dedicated to these incredible flightless birds from the world’s coldest regions. In the African Savannah, you can feed the giraffes, watch the rhinos and be glad that the magnificent lions are locked away safely behind bars! The Asian Rainforest is inhabited by playful orang-utans, sun bears and Komodo dragons. The zoo is located in South Perth, about 3.2 kilometres from the city centre, across the Swan River. You can pay to park in the streets that surround the zoo, or get there by public transport. The zoo is open daily, including major holidays. Children under 16 years pay half the entrance fee.

Great Zoo! We added the Lion experience to our day and it was fantastic! The zoo itself was going through a bit of construction but lots of different animals to see
