Holiday Inn Express Boston - Saugus by IHG

Holiday Inn Express Boston - Saugus by IHG

10/10 Excellent
"I use this hotel whenever I am in Saugus or Boston area. The hotel is comfortable and the staff is helpful. The hotel is easier with a car, but I like to walk and have several restaurants and/or bars within a 15 - 20 minute walk, so it is not a problem with me. I have never had an issue at the hotel. This time a couple of minor glitches, key card stopped twice and for some reason housekeeping missed my room. However, when I let front desk know, after a little miscommunication with manager, a housekeeping staff member took care of the issue and all was good. Only other issue was other guests felt that the desk personnel was away from the desk too much. I was working at business center and 4 guests asked if I knew where desk crew was. They appear to just go around to the hallway in back and usually respond with an excuse me. My only issues are simple. Several of the TV stations don't match what is listed. They could use an update on the system. And, my main concern is the bath tubs. They are very slick. They have safety treads built into tub, but they are not good. An elderly person could have an issue with the tubs. I am 68 and still have solid coordination so I could handle without much of an issue. Others it could be rough. This is normally the only item I harp on. I would seriously recommend better appliques or a roll up rubber mat in tubs to keep all hotel guests safe from a possible slip and fall."

"For us, this hotel was ideally located within 35 of Rockport, Salem, Gloucester, and Crane Beach. It was also about 45 minutes from Boston and Cambridge. The nightly rate was more affordable compared to hotels in Rockport and Gloucester, as well the hotels in Cambridge. So good value with good amenities, an indoor pool, and nearby shops and restaurants."

"I did not eat breakfast there. The location is difficult to find but worth the effort. As I drove in on a busy evening, I was a little wary that there were so few cars in the lot, but I had no complaints about the room and the cooperation I had with the manager as I had to change my reservation several times as my plans changed. I would stay there again…and I am a seasoned discriminating traveler. "
