Red Lion Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"I stayed one night on my way home from London to the South west as I needed to split the journey. Hotel was about 8 minutes walk from the station through a well lit shopping centre. I arrived just after 11 as my train was delayed, called ahead as I wasn't sure if they accommodated late check in and it was fine. Very friendly staff and a lovely clean and comfy room, perfect for a good night's sleep and great value for money. My only slight niggle was there was no plug socket near the bed or bedside table, and even with a long charger cable it couldnt reach from the desk opposite. Very minor thing though and may have just been my particular room. Would happily stay again."

"Great hotel ideally situated for anyone attending events at St Mary's stadium which is a short walk away. Around 15 mins walk from Southampton Central train station and Southampton High Street/West Quay. Breakfast was good and plentiful only negative I would say is that there isn't a lot of room to walk by people when getting breakfast items as space is tight. I would definitely be happy to stay here again and would recommend. For anyone driving the car park opposite for Solent University is great value if parking on the weekend."

"Checked in at 5pm and the reception were professional but very robotic and not really welcoming so not a great first impression. The room is very modern with 2 USB ports next to the bed. The bed was very comfortable and had an excellent sleep. The TV is 65 inch Samsung which has Sky Sports. No apps for YouTube or no option to Chromecast from your phone. The TV picture quality is excellent. The air conditioning was excellent but kept switching off so I guess it’s motion controlled so if you’re not moving in the room it switches off. The bathroom was small but has an excellent lighted shaving mirror. The shower offers both rainfall and hand held shower option. The water pressure is good too. Tea and Coffee in the room. The room and bathroom are very clean but I didn’t have a window in the room and only a small window in the bathroom which looked out onto a wall. The room wasn’t clean during my two night stay and I didn’t have any Do Not Disturb sign on the door. I guess they must have just forgotten to service my room. The WiFi is free and fast and doesn’t drop out. Vodafone and O2 had no service in the room I was in but you could make a phone call even though it only had one bar of signal strength. No fridge or safe in the room which was disappointing. For people who want to stay fit there is a nice gym. The is a Starbucks Coffee in the hotel and an amazing Waitrose Supermarket about 0.6 miles away which even has a cafe. The main shopping mall is about 1 mile away and is abo"
